I asked my husband not to give me christmas presents this year, instead donate what you would have spent to the NSPCC...and he did and it felt soo good!!!

I did enjoy the photos of cartoons because it was so much fun to see what everyone chose to put up.  Unfortunately, a friend's new gf who takes herself far too seriously in a 'I clearly know everything so you should do exactly what I say and what I want to do'  just put in her status about how ridiculous it was.  Sometimes I hate facebook politics and how you feel you have to 'friend' the new gf/bf of a friend just to stay friends with the person.  Why do I have to friend the new gf if I don't like her?  At least I can block her status stuff from popping up.  Sorry for the rant, I haven't read all the thread, but I needed to that out.  Hope that's okay.   :)

Heeee!  Feel better?  :)

Lol!  I think I'd have to pretty much quit all internet groups to avoid that scenario!  So much one-upmanship for such a short life.  Best just to laugh it off.  :P ;) :D

Oh definitely.  And that goes beyond the internet.  I just don't feel comfortable having her on my facebook because I felt it was forced on me and if I didn't accept her, I wouldn't keep my friend.  And that sucks, because he's super.  That's more of an IA than a facebook thing though.

For sure.  I do think people are less likely to be a*ses face-to-face though, as compared to the unbridled a*se-holery that often goes down online.  Even so, face-to-face certainly isn't a deterrent for everyone though - lol!

I view Facebook as the anyone-and-everyone free-for-all.  But it's a shame that the friend was forced on you - I agree.  If it's the person I'm thinking of, he's great - IMO.  :)

had something similiar, a regular to the shop added me on facebook, and straight away his missus added me. I dont really like the girl and figured she only added me to be nosey. so i left her in limbo. Thankfully shes not a facebook genius, so everytime she sees me she asks "did you get my friends request?" and i always reply "no i havent, i probably have too many friends on there and i cant receive anymore requests"  ;D

This is only a minor grievance, but I have a FB friend (someone I went to high school with) who just started writing articles for Associated Content, and every day she is posting links to articles she wrote and telling us to read them. Sometimes she will post links to the same article several times (each time a different status update). It is really clogging up my news feed. She even once sent me a personal message to make sure that I knew about an article that she wrote, which she had already mentioned in at least one status update.

I write articles for websites for a living and I would never consider posting  links to every single article I wrote anywhere. I might link to an article on a very rare occasion if it coincidentally was related to a topic that was being discussed.

I have a few FB friends who are in bands and they will post invites to their gigs but they don't do this everyday.

I did read the first couple of articles she wrote and they are very good but I don't need to be reminded about her writing every single day.

Now that I am thinking about  it, what she is doing is spamming and she doesn't seem to realize it.

I'm thinking of putting her on ignore but she is a very nice person, and I do like hearing about what is going on in her life. Plus, she recently lost her mother so I feel like a  meanie.

My rant is the new format shows a clip of things I wrote on someone elses page and anyone can click on it...And I am told when I write something it shows in the feed too!

Major Annoying and if I could switch back and make it stop I would!

I was ranting about this yesterday.  Apparently even if your profile is set to private, if someone writes on your wall or comments on a picture or whatever...all their friends are then able to click on that and see that post on your wall or that picture or whatever they commented on.  It's like I've said before, I know nothing you put on the internet is truly private but for those of us who do like to try to maintain some small sense of privacy, Facebook seems to be creating bigger and bigger loopholes for strangers and everyone else to be able to see what you're up to.

I didn't switch to the new fb format and it does this to me, too. I don't really understand the motivation to piss off your millions of users every 5 weeks with some new "update"? People delete their fb for those kinds of things, which seems counterproductive.

Agreed!!  HATE  this!!  feel kind of exposed..  There is a reason  I am not friends  with EVERYONE>. I didn't want every one of my freinds  to see what I wrote  to  a non mutual  friend!

That's not just happening in the new format - I haven't changed to the new format yet and my wall is suddenly now showing clips of things I've recently written on other people's walls! I think it's just started today as they weren't there this morning  :(.
