Bloody snow >:(. After the rain melt the other day we had lost a little of the mounds but now it's snowing again quite heavily. DS offered to drive me to work but driving looks very slow so he bundled me up with gaiters, reflective armband, neon yellow cap with flashing light at back and a flashlight! Walking was not too bad but stood at the bus stop watching traffic going very slowly and no buses in either direction. An SUV pulled over with 2 women in it who offered me a lift. So I leapt in! They tried to talk me into going all the way to Brighton where they work but I said just drop me in the next town and I can get a bus down Mass. Ave. So -- there are good Samaritans out there!
Temps. going down overnight to -5F over the weekend and more snow next week. :(

I have to second BostonDiner today. This snow is just insane. The pavements were practically solid ice to begin with after this past week of snow/freezing rain and people not shoveling. Now we have a few more inches of fluffy snow on top of that...makes for treacherous walking. The only benefit is that my calves got a nice workout this morning walking to the underground station.

Not looking forward to the dropping temps this weekend and more possible snow next week. What a winter so far!

We missed the snow, but now we've got FRIGID temperatures. Brrrr.
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

On top of my mouth-breathing head cold, I've been having stomach cramps all day. My husband thinks *maybe* the bacon we used for dinner last night could've been bad, but it seemed okay and he's been largely fine today. And with my boss away until Wednesday, I'm in charge so there's no way I can go home sick. :(

And another annoyance:
I put a book on my Amazon Wishlist and was bought it for Christmas. Yet despite reading favourable reviews and having a good experience with the brand, the book is AWFUL. Totally worthless and I wanted to just return it after flipping through it once. But I don't want to offend the giver by asking for the order number (after all, they just gave me something I asked for!), so I contacted amazon since their "thinking of returning an item?" page said I could supply the sender's name, address, email, and phone and they could process it anyway. Only they can't - I got a snarky email from support quoting data protection laws that meant they couldn't give me an order number since it wasn't shipped TO ME, or ticked "this is a gift". How totally and utterly useless. Of course the buyer is going to get it shipped to themselves so they can wrap it and give it on Christmas morning! So now I've either got to a) offend the giver, b) lie to some high street book store and say it was bought there, or c) take a hit and sell it on Amazon Marketplace. And I don't like options a or b in the slightest. :(

We're getting those tonight and for the next few days. I'm certainly NOT looking forward to that bit. I would rather take the snow, but not the minus 0 temps (before windchill).

Car failed its MOT. Not looking forward to paying £450 on fixing it, when the car cost us £850. I think we're just going to fix it and sell it immediately so that we can start saving up for a new one, and not put any more money into petrol and insurance. We can get on without one just fine at the moment, but it's putting a damper on our plans to move out to a village this summer. :-\\\\

I have lived in this flat for 3 years, and in those 3 years I am STILL the only person who ever thinks to hoover/tidy the common entry. >:(

Wow, ours passed but we still spent £369 on the MOT, Interim Service, 2 tires (that didn't fail MOT but were going to need to be replaced soon anyway), cooling system flush and to have the tracking corrected. However, it's money well spent since it's the only maintenance we've had to do in 2 years, we use it daily, have a small child and hopefully we'll get a good price for it when we go to sell it.

If anyone's interested in a well maintained reliable car...we should have one available in a few months ;)

It was mostly tires for us I think. The alignment and wheel wells were all off-kilter and apparently it ruined the tires from the inside so we have to get 4 new ones. We can only afford the cheapest ones so I can only imagine how crap they're going to be.

The car was in great condition when we got it in the Fall, so I'm thinking the council's poor handling of the roads in the bad weather has something to do with it. Our estate is nothing but potholes, and was nothing but chunks of ice before that.

There's a few other small things, too, but I'm not certain on the details yet. He's heading over there now to get it and is going to talk to the guys about what they think it might need in the near future or how long we can keep it going without having to put anymore money into it.

Depending on how it goes over the next few months, you may have an interested buyer Weby! ;)

Depending on how much you are asking Weby you might have another interested buyer! Let everyone know in a few months if we haven't bought another already. ;) ;D

Oh that sucks Shugga! I'd say call and say you can't make that time, but then you never know when you'll get seen again. Though you could try and get on a cancellation list as well.
