Oh my gawd, you guys... I am so annoyed right now.  I tried to give Tesco a chance, but I really think I can't deal with them anymore.  I had decided I would do my local shopping for fresh produce and meats, and use Tesco to order long-life, bulk stuff.  So I placed a huge order to stock up on things we've not been able to get locally for the past couple of weeks while I was holding a grudge against them for that refund fiasco (they finally issued it and sent my husband a £5 gesture code that I forgot to use).

I ordered ten 1-liter bottles of Coke for £10.  They sent me six 1.5-litre bottles of Coke for £10 and called that a price match.

I ordered and paid for four packets of plain flour tortillas.  They sent me three.  They are dated best by tomorrow.

I ordered a packet of pierogi to have as a backup I'm-too-lazy-to-cook food in the fridge.  They're usually good for "1+ weeks" (according to the Tesco website... usually, they are good for 2 weeks or longer).  These are use-by Thursday.

And now I have requested refunds for the items (and a partial refund for the overpriced "price-matched" Coke), and we'll see if I'm given it.  I'm not optimistic after the last time.  I hate to sound paranoid, but I swear they did it on purpose because they saw it was my order.

That's utter sh*t. I doubt it was intentional because it was you (which I think you know :) ) but that doesn't make it any less sh*t!! Have you tried using Amazon Pantry for long shelf-life products? Won't have pierogi or anything but would have your tortillas and coke easily enough. It's not even worth it to get long shelf-life stuff through Tesco it sounds.....Maybe just buy extra long shelf stuff when you go to the shop next (you can get tortillas in the mexican section that last over a month :) - don't ask me what they put in them to let them do that though hahahah). Hope you have some better luck with getting the refund this time around as it sounds like a nightmare :(

This is what I'm most annoyed about.  If I had confidence that it would be as it had been for the last year and a half, where I say "these things were wrong, please and thank you" and the refund would appear in my bank statement, no problem.  But hitting that massive hiccup last time really made me hesitant to order with Tesco again.  And now I have to see how the refund goes.  :/  Plus, I'm paranoid about all the items I ordered and have been checking their dates in a panic.  Curse them!

Oh, no! That's entirely too much stress!. Cut them loose jfkimberly, it's just not worth it to have all that worry.

Current IA... Wishing you got to see code samples from a company before deciding to work with them. Spaghetti is an understatement for what I've gotten myself into. -sigh-

And I hope tesco gives you your money back. Their senior management needs to know how badly they are failing!

Makes me think of how I wish we knew how bad the pipework was (spaghetti junction) - or, really, *anything* was with our house  before buying - before deciding to re-do the bathroom!

Is it a separate type of code to what you're used to or just sloppily done?

A bit of both. A different way of doing things plus a good bit of laziness/lack of knowledge.

Oh, dear.  Good luck sorting out the code!

I'll let you know when/if I get a refund.  They definitely owe me one.  Hopefully this time it won't take a week and repeated requests to get it.

If you run into trouble, I have a friend who is an area manager elsewhere. I would be happy to ask for advice on where your complaints can be escalated ;)

Thanks, Margo.  It's lucky for Tesco I didn't have that contact two weeks ago when I got so much push-back from the guy who only wanted to talk to the man of the house.  Hopefully, I won't need it now, but I'm happy to know you've got it if I do.

Go to Twitter with your Tesco complaints.  Name and shame the store where it comes from.

Oh my gawd, I'm... *spits daggers*... I just got this email reply 2 minutes ago:

Hello Kimberly,
Thank you for getting in contact with me.
I'm terribly sorry to see all of the issues you've had with your latest order.
However, as this account is in a different name would it be possible for the account holder (HusbandsName) to get in touch?
Once this is done, I will happily refund these items and log this for the store to see.
Have a lovely evening and hopefully this gets resolved for you!
Kind regards,

Elly Garcia

Why on earth can't they issue the refund to the card on the account?  I ... what?  Bah.

Oh no! It's Groundhog Day.

Would it be possible for you to open an account in your name so that they can't put that roadblock in front of you in future (If there is one with Tesco any more).

Yes, it would be.  But this is what I told them instead:

Hi Elly,

Thanks for getting in touch.

I am the account holder.  My husband, (HusbandsName), and I share this household account.  Tesco.com doesn't have a facility for us to put both of our names on it, and he was the one who physically registered it when we first moved to our house.  We live at (Address With Postcode), and we have been using this shared account for 20 months.  Up until just a few weeks ago I have been able to get a refund in the rare instance that there was a problem with my order without needing to get my husband to fight my battles for me.  Please let me know if this is a new company policy.  If it is, I will have to start a new account in my own name so I can get the odd refund when I require it.  Of course, given all the problems I've had lately, if I have to start over with a new online grocery account, it will not be with Tesco.

If this is not a policy change, I look forward to seeing the refund on my credit card registered to this account.

-Kimberly

Every day, Tesco makes me miss Ocado even more.

I think I have politely, yet firmly, made my point.
