The only ISPs that do well on customer service surveys are Plusnet and Zen. We've had Plusnet for about 10 years, and I can confirm they do a good job of staying on top of problems and working to get them solved. We had Sky when we first moved to the UK, and they were terrible in every respect.

BT sucks too.  I hate them.  Just an FYI.

We did, too, on principle.  But then they gave us Ultrafast.  300Mbps!  We have actually achieved 309 on some speed tests.  And there's been no down time since we got it.

We re-downloaded GTA V last week.  The first time we got the game, at our old house on our old connection, it took a week of downloading through the nights.  This time, it took about 40 minutes (it is 79GB).

That's what I hear.  Our choices are fairly limited though.   Luckily our connection issue last night was a more widespread problem (16 others affected) and it now seems to be resolved!

My big issue with BT is around cost.  We switched to them two years ago.  Frankly, I believe speeds and service are what they are due to connections to your house and how close you are to the exchange and if you are fibre straight to your door or only to the nearby box.

What irks me is that when I signed up to BT two years ago, it was £25/month.  I got a "renew now and lock in the same rate for the next year."  So I did.  But yet my bill is now £67/month.  Supposedly this is the same?  No matter how many times I've called, I cannot get this reduced.   I just got my "renew now and lock in your rate" again.  I will be cancelling and going elsewhere (looking into options now)!  My husband is just going to have to live without BT Sports.  :P

We're supposed to be locked infor 24 months. During the initial year, did the rate stay at £25?  I will not be pleased if they don't honor the 24-month rate.

Yes, it was locked in for the 12 months (that we had).

That's good, then.  At the end of 2 years, if we're not suddenly using more of the speeds, we'll probably downgrade our service if prices go up.  We know we don't really need 300Mbps.  (Though it was fun to re-download GTA V two weeks ago in only 40 minutes, versus the week it took us the first time we got it a few years ago.)

I really hate cold season :( Both of us are home sick today, and he was all weekend (and shared with me... ). I miss home a lot more than usual right now. Being able to have a massive bowl of Pho delivered is the thing I miss most, even where by husband lived in London there were no good delivery options. If we are both sick it means struggling to keep up on dishes so that I can continue to feed us tasty soup. I did buy tyrozets and those help the pain but taste horrid (I am not a liquorice fan). *sigh*

But at least my electric blanket arrived so I am cozy at night!

I am not a happy bunny today :(.

Got up at 3am this morning after only about 2.5 hours of sleep, arrived at the base air terminal at 3:30am in the snow, went through security, sat down in the departure lounge about 4:30am... and two minutes later, a tannoy went out saying that due to crew illness, the plane cannot carry passengers and will be flying back to the UK freight only... as a result we’ll be put on the next plane on Friday afternoon :(!!!

We had to collect all our luggage and now it’s 5:30am and I’m back in my room. I’m now stuck here for another 2 days and won’t be home until Saturday afternoon instead of tomorrow morning :(.

Oh no!!!!  Not another delay.  And in the 11th hour.  I'm so sorry.  Fingers crossed this Friday is definitely fly day!

Oh no :( Does that mean there's a delay in getting replacement staff for you too? At least there will be a reprieve from the cold temps when you get back here!

So frustrating :(. I’m so ready to get out of here... I was looking forward to fast internet and 20 degrees tomorrow, and now I’m stuck here with spotty WiFi and snow/strong winds.

I really hope there are no more delays because we’re supposed to be going out for a birthday meal for my brother on Saturday afternoon (my plane is due in 12:20pm on Sat now) and we have Cirque du Soleil tickets for Sunday!

Not sure of the logistics, but there’s only one plane going back and forth, and one aircrew physically here. The plane has to get back to the UK to pick up another 100-200 passengers tomorrow and bring them down, so we’re all staying here until it gets back again.

I managed to get lost trying to walk from a parking garage to a health center I've never been to. Nothing like fuelling your depression and anxiety by not being able to find the place your therapy appointment is. They blocked the path Google maps sent me on for construction and I have no sense of direction and couldn't get back on track.
