Do people here not believe in turning your thumping music down and bringing your party inside once it starts getting late? We have a little wooded area that separates our street from the next. People over there ALWAYS have thumping music playing outside late. I can usually here it in our back bedroom- the further point in our house from it. We’ve learned to live with it, because there’s nothing else to do ( we’ve reported it).

But last night my direct neighbours were going at it. Super loud music, chants/cheers/singalongs. Now I don’t know my neighbours per say but I like them ( we have a respect he takes our wheely bin out and we bring his in etc). I just wanted them to be quiet. I feel so old writing this haha. But I had to close the windows just to quiet it a bit.

Since they don’t do it ALLL the time I tried not to get annoyed but I just don’t get the thoughtlessness around here when it comes to playing loud music late at night.

I totally get you. While I also would probably feel like if it's not happening all the time, it's not the biggest deal in the world (with this one particular neighbour), I also can totally appreciate why this would still be irritating.  We walked home from the train station Friday night and walked by a house a street away absolutely blaring music and it was close to midnight. I said to my husband that i would absolutely hate living next to those people. I know we aren't perfect and do make noise late on the odd occasion when we have friends over to have some drinks, BBQ, and play games, but I would hate to be around people who do this at all hours of the night on a regular basis.

I think here in the UK, there is just less space between houses as well so when somebody is having a party, you tend to not be able to help but to hear it loudly and proudly and they don't seem to think twice about it. You are totally not alone with this irritation by any means!

Those people are the culprit of the banging music constantly on weekends when it is nice out. I appreciate you have to soak up all of the nice weather when it comes but it’s so bad. I mean the bass is SO loud. This is the front window and I can hear it all the way in the back with the windows closed some nights. We were those old people who called police but it’s so low on the radar I doubt anything ever happened ( it stops kiddo from sleeping ).

As for neighbors next door, I’ll let them slide ;) as I like them. Haha. But told hubby we needed to have a party in a few weeks time. I mean the first week we lived here I had to much drink at a wedding and was sick in the front garden, so I’m sure we’ve been our fair share of annoying.

We’re lucky as we’re in a detached house, but I can’t imagine going back to attached now as I know we are noisy in our ways sometimes.

We're in a semi at the moment, so I'm always paranoid we're being too loud and annoying even when it's not too late in the evening haha and also we're more or less on top of our neighbours. We have a decent size garden but it's not very private and the acoustics are insane here so I can hear people walking in the fields in front of our house super clearly which makes me more paranoid.

Dont blame you for phoning the police though! I doubt they did anything because that's extra paperwork for something lower on their priority list but it definitely wasnt the wrong thing to do to call as that sounds ridiculously annoying to deal with regularly. Especially when you have nowhere to go to get away to NOT hear it!

I'm in a flat and normally my neighbour is very quiet. Except last night... I was getting out of the car to get into the flat around midnight when I thought I heard screaming. Stuart said he thought she might be having a party. Turned out to be an orgasm party.

Omg... I could hear her out in the street and by the time I got upstairs it was very apparent what was happening.

It was actually quite shocking and I'm not easily shocked. Stuart said it wasn't her boyfriend that was over...

Yes. She was consenting.  When I said screaming, I meant moaning screaming. And it was her female friend that was over. She was way over the top.

We stood at our front door, fumbling for our keys, trying to be quiet so we wouldn't embarrass her. Lol.

Haha... awkward!  You're going to see her again.  Look her in the eye.  And you'll know.

Good on you..I would've been extra loud fumbling for keys just so she'd know we were there hahaha At least she had an enjoyable night.

This is absolutely hilarious! I don’t know if I would feel that way if I was living there but OMG! I am laughing out loud.

The joy of being overseas when things aren't going well back home. My grandma is 95, I know her time is coming soon, but my mom messaged late last night to say "she's having issues" and to call in the morning US time, because she can't figure out Skype or making international calls. I call the number for the family member she told me to call, no answer. Send her a message, she tells me she's no longer there, having breakfast and on her way to my grandma's town. So I ask when/where I should call. No answer. So at this point I don't even know if my grandma is alive or dead. Why is my family so difficult?? Just tell me over messenger what's going on if you can't answer the phone when you tell me to call. Its far better than being left in the dark.

I’m so so sorry you are going through this. I’ve lost two grandparents since I’ve moved here and it’s not easy.  I went through this last year when my grandpa died. Then to make it worse I couldn’t come home as we had a trip planned in a months time. My grandma held off on the funeral for about a month  because grandpa wanted to be cremated. She then held the memorial the week before we came. Like you couldn’t hold on one more week for me? I know it’s not my decision but that was a bit like cmon....

I couldn't even travel right now if I wanted to. My husband doesn't drive and her town isn't near any airport, and I can't drive more than about 45 minutes from a back injury. Plus not having anywhere to stay because my family won't avoid scented products when I'm around. But I would like to send a message for my mom to read to my grandma if she is still with us.
