We're planning a family holiday to France in August 2011 during the school holidays. Over the coming days we'll be hammering out the details ... exactly where in France and the dates. I'm voting for the coast with day trips to local vineyards. We plan on driving as getting anywhere is always have the adventure! :)

Dan and I are going to Dublin for St Paddy's Day! I'm soooo excited. Temple Bar here I come! :D
We stole countries with the cunning use of flags. Just sail around the world and stick a flag in. "I claim India for Britain!" They're going "You can't claim us, we live here! Five hundred million of us!" "Do you have a flag …? "What? We don't need a flag, this is our home, you bastards" "No flag, No Country, You can't have one! Those are the rules... that I just made up!...and I'm backing it up with this gun, that was lent to me from the National Rifle Association."

We've booked off those 3 days between the Easter 4-day weekend and the royal wedding/May Day 4-day weekend to finally do the road trip through France we've been talking about doing for years. We have a big estate car so we're taking camping stuff and big coolers and eating our way around the markets and vineyards for 11 days. We want to drive around, go wherever takes our fancy next, and sleep in a mix of hotels and campgrounds.  :)
Summer 97 - first visited friends in London

March 09 - Citizenship!
July 09 - bone marrow transplant :(
18 Sep 10 - wedding!
Mar 12 - half marathon in Paris! 1:47:12!

Probably back to the US (New Jersey) in March or April.  I don't want to book anything until I have my passport back from my visa application.  Though, I'm tempted to wait it out until May/June so I can have a taste of summer! :)  Either way, I'm thinking a couple of weeks will be just enough before I'm itching to come back.

What's a holiday?

Seriously, ever since we've been married "holiday" time has been spent largely shuttling back and forth across the Atlantic.

When the kids were young, we had a few long weekends on Holy Island. Then one trip to Paris (wasted on the kids) and 2 trips to Switzerland (Kussnacht on Lake Luzern).

Nothing on the horizon now. My vacation days will probably be used on trying to get my house in US ready to sell.

Seville and Cádiz in March

Two of my favourite places, ever!  Jealous!

We are still mapping out our holidays for this year, but so far we have:

1) We are going somewhere during that week from Easter weekend through to the May bank holiday.  Just need to decide where.  Here in the UK or abroad in Europe?  That is the question.  Maybe a European rail journey...  Maybe self-catering somewhere here... Hmmmm.

2) Planning to do a long walk again in June - the Yorkshire Wolds Way this time is the plan...still to be all plotted out & trained for though.

3) The in-laws want us to go with them to Guernsey for a week in September, in honour of their 50th wedding anniversary.

4) Two weeks in the USA in October, when my niece is getting married (in the Baltimore/Washington area) & I think we'll do New York City as well while we are there this time.  Haven't been back to the States since May 2009!

Probably another week or two, or some long weekends to fit in - but we've got to get the above all figured out & sorted before we add more in.  ;)
