Slavoj Zizek's "First as Tragedy, Then as Farce"

It's a fascinating and damning critique of liberalism, showing how liberalism died a political death with 9/11 and then an economic death with the recent economic crisis. I particularly respect his distinction between those who criticise the same ideas and those who share the same agendas - a distinction quite important for the European left!
"As I write, highly civilized human beings are flying overhead, trying to kill me.

They do not feel any enmity against me as an individual, nor I against them. They are ‘only doing their duty’, as the saying goes. Most of them, I have no doubt, are kind-hearted law-abiding men who would never dream of committing murder in private life."

- George Orwell

How is the kindle compared to say a laptop- or a real book?

I love it. I really enjoy reading but have noticed in recent years that I get tired very quickly which I think is due to my vision/tracking problems. The Kindle has been the perfect solution for me. I can increase the font size which also means less words on a page, so both issues are solved.

The Bad Sister by Emma Tennant.

I picked this up at the library during my last trip and reshelved it when I tried to cut my books down to five.  Weird coincidence.  Tell me how it is?

Post Birthday World-Lionel Shriver  I hope I can get past how she writes dialogue for her British characters.

I found that one a bit strange.

I just read First Family by David Baldacci over the weekend and I read Twilight today!

Yes, it looks really good!  I've just requested it from the library (someone had the nerve to check it out!).

I still haven't got Miss Buncle Married yet...it's sitting at the library waiting for me!

Just finished The Count of Monte Cristo today. I have to say that I really loved it! Just got The Host by Stephenie Meyer from my friend at work to start reading tonight.  :)
