I read Jenny McCarthy's Belly Laughs, really cute and honest writing about pregnancy.

I was just at a bookstore and saw that she's written a second book, Baby Laughs, about her son's first year.  Dunno if it's been published in the UK yet, but I glanced through it and it looks really funny!

Oh yeah.  That would probably be a good idea.  I'm not the brightest bulb today... ::)

Just finished Catch-22 and can't recommend it highly enough. Now I'm starting The Princess Bride. Ahhhhh, handsome Westley!
I know I'm late - where's the booze?

My cousin borrowed my copy of The Princess Bride ten years ago.  Still hasn't returned it. >:(
Hmm... perhaps that's what I'll pick up when I go to the library next.  I love that book - five million times better than the movie, if you ask me. :)

Ok, perhaps you can enlighten me on this: did Goldman write the story or Morgenstern? I have a copy that is abridged  (or "abridged") by Goldman but this guy is legend. The amount of writing he's done makes me think there's something else going on. And he's thrown in all sorts of commentary throughout the book which seems really odd.  So, is Goldman having a laugh and adding a bit of fun to the novel or has he really abridged this book and cut out huge sections of it as he writes in his introduction?

other than that i'm really enjoying it . . .

I just got In Cold Blood by Truman Capote, anyone else read it?  I saw Capote last week and it was amazing!!!!  The movie focuses around him getting info to write this book.

That took place in a little backwater in Kansas!  We all heard about it growing up.  I've read a collection of Capote short stories before, but have never gotten round to reading In Cold Blood.
Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in...

Truman Capote is my favourite writer! I did like In Cold Blood very much, but it's unlike anything else he ever wrote. Still, a riveting read. I think I like his short stories best, though -- some of them are works of art!

Stacey, I hope you like the book!

Hopefully, one of these days our little local cinema will get Capote 'cause I've been dying to see it. PSH is an incredible actor and I'm sure he was fabulous in it.

Beyond Fabulous, he is so talented isn't he!  I hope you get it too!

I think the debate about who exactly wrote The Princess Bride - just like who wrote Shakespeare's plays ::) - may go on for years.  The film has been a favourite of mine - for obvious reasons - for years, but I have never gotten around to reading the book.  I think after I finish reading what I am presently reading, I am going to give it a go.  Jamie has a copy which contains - at the end - the short story Buttercup's Baby, which, supposedly, was discovered when Goldman took his son to Florrin (or what once was Florrin; as I say, I haven't read the commentary, Jamie has) to go to the S. Morgenstern museum which is located there.  Anywho...yeah, I've decided that will be my next read.

As for now...

I am reading The Real Middle Earth by Brian Bates, given to me by my SIL for Christmas.  It's a fascinating look at the peoples of ancient England during what is typically characterised as The Dark Ages; it looks at the culture, the beliefs, the thought processes of the people: quite interesting.
I was born in the Summer and at Night...my mother named me AUTUMN DAWN.  True story.

Jamie's...beyond the stars and past eternity.

It's all Goldman, and quite brilliantly done I might add.  I love that it's all "abridged" and sort of thrown together with his commentaries.  Makes it all the more entertaining.

I know there is still debate floating around about whether or not Morgenstern actually existed, but Goldman has done everything to admit it's him but publish a book titled "I Wrote The Princess Bride and There Is No Morgenstern". ;D

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban ~ JK Rowling

I'm working my way through the books. I've read the first two in two days.

Yeah, those first two are extremely quick reads.
