I got a lapel pin with the borough crest (?) And I wore it the rest of the day. A friend said it reminded her of something from Harry Potter.

The ceremony fee was included for me. I applied in 2015 so with the old fees, but I doubt that's changed. The only thing I had to pay for after the application fee was biometrics.

I did get a welcome packet and it contained a letter from Theresa May. >:( I would not pay money for anything from her, but at least I'm not on her 'naughty list now that I'm British! ;)

I got a lovely Emma Bridgewater union jack mug (my profile pic) from DH as my new Brit gift. Much better than the welcome packet. ;)

Hmmm.  I applied before the fees changed. I wonder if it *is* included and I am wrong?

The mug is nice! :)

After all it was a great big world, with lots of places to run to.
And if she had to die trying she had one little promise she was gonna keep.

Leeds have ceremonies May 12 and June 26. That's it! (Obvs I am sure they will have more after that, probably 6 weeks later...

Ah, thanks for that!  June 26 is on a Sunday.  I'm surprised they'd hold it then.

I think you will hear something in 20 days... I was approved 20 days after biometrics and mine was not straightforward.

That would be great. Mine isn't perfectly straightforward either, as I have been married a couple times, but sheesh, they've already checked that info 3x! :D

Application received by Home Office: 15 March 2016
Email acknowledgement: 8 April 16
Letter requesting biometrics received: 11 April 16 (dated 7 April)

Well I'm glad you can attend and it's all been worked out (even with all the extra paperwork. :( )  Maybe it's the 23rd - that would be exactly 6 weeks from the 12th May. That would work for me. :D

Hmmm.  I applied before the fees changed. I wonder if it *is* included and I am wrong?

I seem to remember that the ceremony price was listed on the new fees sheet but there was a note at the bottom of the page or doc that said the citizenship application fee includes the ceremony fee.

Anyway, I don't they'll make you pay for it. ;) If you applied when I did, it's definitely included (it probably is for people who applied with the new fees, too).

If the ceremony is include (I'm pretty sure it is), your hubby with have £50 extra pounds laying around to get you a new Brit gift, right? ;)

I think the fee is included.  I'm sure I had read it was when I applied and this PDF seems to indicate that it is:

https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/419449/fees_table_for_website_2015_03_30.pdf

I hope so because I promised my partner that after the £20 for biometrics, it would all be over but the waiting...and the party!

Our local council charges £140 for private ceremonies  :o As long as you don't need to do that, you should be fine! It's almost £80 for a passport, so don't let him get too happy about the savings! haha

Nooo...no private ceremony for me. I already told him about the passport fee, so he's okay with that. :)  I'm hinting for a party. :D
