Okay, I'm home now and can check the statistics.

For ALL UK visas applied for by Tanzanian nationals in 2017:
Jan-Mar 2017
Approved = 903 (87%)... 22 of which were partner visas
Refused = 138 (13%)

Apr-Jun 2017
Approved = 1,295 (86%)... 24 of which were partner visas   
Refused = 206 (14%)

Jul-Sep 2017
Approved = 1,441 (86%)... 29 of which were partner visas   
Refused = 225 (13%)

Oct-Dec 2017
Approved = 1,082 (84%)... 18 of which were partner visas   
Refused = 201 (16%)

Unfortunately, they don't publish any statistics regarding how many partner visas were refused, they only publish the total number of partner visas that were granted.

As I posted the Tanzania stats, here are the stats for US nationals too:

For ALL UK visas applied for by US nationals in 2017:
Jan-Mar 2017
Approved = 4,490 (93%)... 512 of which were partner visas
Refused = 321 (7%)

Apr-Jun 2017
Approved = 7.669 (97%)... 498 of which were partner visas   
Refused = 218 (3%)

Jul-Sep 2017
Approved = 17,564 (97%)... 751 of which were partner visas   
Refused = 447 (2%)

Oct-Dec 2017
Approved = 5,635 (94%)... 582 of which were partner visas   
Refused = 299 (5%)

Belatedly adding our details to this chain...applied using the settlement gold service (less said about that the better) on 3rd February, documents arrived in Sheffield on 10th February, decision made email on 7th March, and picked up the visa (hurrah!) from the application centre yesterday.

Thanks to all for the help in getting our documents ready - made the process that little bit easier and bearable!

That's great - congratulations :D!

Sounds like you had a slightly easier time of the Gold service than our other two applicants... their visas took 2 months, but yours was only just over 1 month :).

Thank you SOUTHERNBOY123!  I really do hope you receive a decision soon too.  I like to think it's not a coincidence that they made a decision just before 60 BDs.  Perhaps they do care about their stats...
