I came across the review site of UKVI last night. It’s all 1 star ratings now; which really isn’t shocking. However, in 2012 and around that time the reviews are all positive! So, since that time this process has gone from not being so bad, to being a disaster. Wonder what caused the change?

the government made a bunch of stupid rules regarding immigration. All of the stuff updated to make it a 'more efficient' vetting system

And She Who Must Not Be Named was Home Secretary during that time. So take that and do with it what you will.  ::)

I’ve seen on this forum that once you get the email, it usually takes until 4pm UK time for tracking to update with an expected delivery date? Is that true?

How long does it usually take for the passport to arrive?

I can't speak for usually, but last year, after receiving the decision made email, it took exactly 3 days for me to get my documents back. It was super fun to watch my package sitting in New Jersey for almost an entire day.

In 2012, the New Rules came in.  It was a drastic change in eligibility requirements, and that was the start of the fees going up massively year-on-year.
9/1/2013 - "fiancée" (marriage) visa issued
4/6/2013 - married (certificate issued same-day)

8/1/2016 - FLR(M)#2 by post -- approved!
8/5/2018 - ILR in person -- approved!
22/11/2018 - Citizenship (online, with NDRS+JCAP) -- approved!
14/12/2018 - I became a British citizen.  :)

I got the decision made email!!!!! Cbjoe, yours has to be coming soon!!!!

Promising!

But your decision was made on 4 Aug if I recall. It then took about 3 more weeks for the "decision made" email.

My decision isn't made yet, according to the call centre. When that finally happens, looks like it could then be another 3 weeks before I get the email.

Weird system.
Country: USA (Seattle)
Visa: Settlement - Spouse (Wife)
Priority: Yes
Visa office: Sheffield, UK

Biometrics (USCIS Seattle): 15 Jun 18
Documents at Sheffield (ParcelForce): 20 June 2018
Email "prepared for consideration by ECO": 27 Jun 18
Email "did not include airway bill": 27 Jun 18
Call to escalate after 30bd: twice, no reply

Email "decision made": 3 Sep
Documents returned (to UK): 5 Sep
Passport received (UPS): 5 Sep

(48th bd from "application being prep'd for ECO" email.)

Visa valid from: 10 Sep
BRP pickup from: 17 Sep

Not if you get the decision made email, that would negate the hassle of waiting 3 weeks. My email from the home office saying that the visa was issued on August 3 seems to be out of the norm, so I imagine you’ll just get the decision email and won’t have to wait like I did.

Congratulations on getting the email :).

I'll be honest, I don't think your decision was made on August 3rd at all. I may be wrong, but I think the decision was likely made today.

Normally they send out the decision made email within 1-2 hours of making the decision, and on rare occasions, it can take maybe 1-2 days from the decision being made. It's almost unheard of for a decision to be made weeks before the email is sent.

Personally, I would take whatever the 'contact hub' told your solicitor with a grain of salt. They are notorious for giving incorrect information, and this wouldn't be the first time they've told someone a decision had been made on their application when in actual fact, the application was still in line and hadn't even been looked at yet.

Gives me hope.

Yes I have had incorrect info from them twice.

I don't even know why they bother having a contact centre. Maybe that's what all of our thousands of £££££££££ spent in application fees, etc goes to.

Nope, they charge for the contact centre to keep it revenue neutral (or profitable). They have a captive audience of people desperate to be with their families and are exploiting it. I've had a hard time adjusting and I know a lot of that has to do with how the government has turned us into pawns vs real people with families and children. So many families are still separated because of the financial requirements and costs :(

I like that ‘she who must not be named.’ Good thing she’s running the country (off a cliff) now.. what could go wrong?

How are they planning on registering all the EU residents, I don’t see it. They’re having a remarkable time just completing supposedly check-box visas...
