Got a decision made email today!!!!!!!!! I literally nearly cried. I haven’t shared this with anyone on here but my husband and I found out that we are pregnant right before I began the visa process. So being apart for the last two months has been extremely difficult. Really really hopeful this is a yes and I can go home.

Congratulations on both accounts. It’s good to see something happening.

I soooooo can't wait. I'm originally from Michigan and autumn was always my favorite time of year there. I lived in the hot San Fernando Valley part of Los Angeles for 18 years. That heat nearly killed me. I hated the weather. It's there where I realized I am just not a hot weather person. I remember my first trip to the UK... I thought I had gone to heaven. I love gray skies, cool weather, and rain. My friends all think I am weird. Maybe I am. LOL!

I know, right? Living in that kind of heat is no joke.

The air in the mornings here now is lovely and crisp.  :)

I love early morning walks when the weather is like that. Air feels so good entering my nostrils and down to my lungs. Love to feel the little sting of a cool breeze on the tip of my nose and my cheeks. Man, I can't wait to get there!  :)

Thank you! It is exciting:)

Granted my application was extremely straightforward. No previous kids or marriages. This is why I think it went quickly. Hopefully it also means it went well.

My current timeline:

Online application submitted: July 24
Biometrics: July 24
Shipped: July 25
Email saying “received by Sheffield” and “currently being prepared for consideration”: July 27
Decision made email: August 30
Awaiting return of documents (and the decision!!!)

Big congratulations to both of you ! That’s a great result for the visa as well , quick turnaround time . I am sure it will be an approval . If I remember correctly , you were 13 BD ahead of us so gives us a glimmer of hope for a September decision . Being cautiously optimistic !

Wish we knew what the problem is with ours.

Silence for over two months, now at 45 bd from the prep'd for ECO email.

They received our application on 20 June.

Something has gone very wrong. Other applications are being processed in two to four weeks. Ours has fallen through the gaps somewhere. No explanation. I know nobody has even looked at our application yet. Could be MONTHS. We can't live like this. Everything is on hold.

Rosy cheek weather!  :)

And I'll actually get to wear fashionable boots and jumpers and winter coats again! Though I must admit, I'll miss just throwing on flip flops daily.  :D

Nothing has gone wrong. Most priority applications are taking 35-45 working days right now... which is normal for this time of year.

Any applications that are only taking 2-4 weeks are anomalies (or ‘unicorns’ as we call them) and not the norm.

Which applications have you seen that are taking 2-4 weeks though? I don’t think I’ve seen any processed that quickly since January.

I’m in the same boat. Don’t know your circumstances, but you seem to share my frustrations at this vicious ridiculous system. My wife and kids have been stranded in the US while our life is on hold why we’re not even given updates as to when something will be done. I’m at 76 BD today on a supposedly priority application.

We got the same silly email you did about it taking so long or whatever. I got an email to pay the IHS fee for my son a month ago and a receipt email on Monday.

I wanted to make this move, and I fear after this disaster my wife is going to be left with a nasty impression of the UK. You can’t blame her and honestly it’s what the idiots pulling the levers of government want.

I have 4 kids that need to be enrolled in school; no matter what country. But we can’t even get an answer at this point so we don’t know what to do!! It’s not good to enroll them one place to remove them in a few weeks. I can’t get another job back in the US instantaneously. This application has been in process since April.

If they ask me to fill out a service review I will have to let it sit for 3 months because it would be non constructive and profanity laced. I have literally nothing good to say about UKVI.

The majority of the time, receiving a not straightforward email does not actually mean that the application is not straightforward. Usually this just means that UKVI are buying themselves time.

Is the application straightforward or did you or your wife receive a non Straightforward email?

Well I will briefly list the timeline. We did receive the email, but only after so many days.

Online Application: April 28th
Bio-Metrics: May 7th
Application Received Email: May 16th

Email to UKVI asking WTF: July 24th
Non-straight forward email: July 25th
Request for IHS payment for son: July 25th

Email from me confirming payment: July 26th
Email from UKVi saying it's been escalated: August 23rd
Email from UKVI saying payment received: August 27th

I'm currently at 76 BD and waiting. I can only gather from the above that they didn't do a thing to the application until they received the email inquiry (people say it's not related here; but the barrage of activity after 2.5 months of nothing seems too much of a coincidence).

In the mean time, I've been pursuing anything possible. The MP timeline is:

Email to MP: July 25th
Letter in Post from MP confirming they are checking: August 1st
Email to MP asking what happened (28 days past; 20 working): August 29th
Letter in Post from MP saying ABSOLUTELY NOTHING of worth: August 30th

Also, I pursued a complaint against UKVI for not treating the application as priority. That was submitted on August 23rd. I have the paperwork to complete the Parliamentary Ombudsman complaint now, will be emailing and asking the MP to sign tonight.

It may be absolutely useless, but I have to do something. For the 100K new words and rules they added to the immigration regs, they didn't make it more streamlined. This process is honestly a joke. It's like how Donald Trump does business, take a service and cash and not pay anyone back or perform service. When complaints come up he says 'sue me', knowing full well the other party doesn't have the power to do anything. UKVI is taking insane amounts of cash for performing a service which they are not performing, and citizens have no reasonable recourse to correct it.

Good luck with your application.
