It's another flurry!!!!

Just wanted to update everyone: I landed safely in Manchester at 9:30am local time and got to run into the arms of the love of my life!! <3

We took the journey to Swindon and I was (miserable) car sick and tired, but once I got home and saw our flat and showered I was ecstatic! We walked to the post office and got the BRP :D I AM OFFICIAL!!!!

Next, NI#. Driving out tomorrow and taking a ferry to France for a mini-moon, then it's on to wedding appointments (We got married in June, but the big wedding is 13 October)

You guys I am over the moon!!
Oh wow that’s fantastic news. Have fun and be safe

Hey guys, quick question of anyone can help. Made it here on a spouse visa after 2 applications. Have an interview coming up for National insurance number. What do I need to take? Also having a hard time opening a bank account cuz they are asking for proof of address. They wouldn't take a letter from my doctors with my address on it. Seems like it's not as easy as the USA.

Thanks for your quick reply KFdancer  :)

Alright! Looks like I dodged a bullet then.

I thought the official payslips and letter of employment stating our income would've been sufficient as evidence of meeting the financial requirement. I must have misread the information on family visas on GOV.UK website. But either way, I'm thankful they asked for the bank statements rather than making a decision right away - definitely encouraging  ;D

The email stating that a decision was made on my case was actually sent from the same email address from Sheffield that confirmed the receipt of my application and that it is being prepared for consideration by an ECO. Therefore I assumed it was accurate but couldn't explain this delay in receiving my documents.

Some of you on this forum are experts in this area and have been here much longer. Do you know if any one encountered a similar issue in the past?

99 times out of a hundred, the decision email is IMMEDIATELY followed by the tracking information.  I apologise, I thought it was the “call line” that said a decision was made.  The decision made email should not have a delay of more than 2 days at worst.  Did you send a prepaid shipping label?  Is it moving?

Start a new thread.  It’ll get buried here.

Yeah even more annoying given the fact that we were not expecting such a quick turnaround time making us more anxious as the hours go by !🤞🏽

Wow... I can't say I'm not jealous especially considering our similar timeline. But I'm not giving up hope. I can't wait to hear all about your big fat YES tomorrow!!!

You need to take your passport and proof of address. I took a council tax bil. That’s usually the most accepted document for opening accounts over here.

Check the bank website for what they require as proof of address. Each bank is slightly different but it is much more challenging than in the US. Council tax definitely will work but it can take time to get onto it and receive the first statement.

Finally got the official dispatch confirmation email with a tracking reference.

Now its that nervous wait for a few days for the UPS delivery :) I really hope its an approval! It has been such a long, at times mentally and emotionally exhausting process. The approval rate for US applicant is generally quite high right?

BTW does everyone get the following statements in that email:

"A decision has been made on your UK Visa application.................UK Decision Making Centre. If anyone contacts you advising that your application is still under consideration or that they can influence the outcome of your application in any way, they cannot - please reports such approach to......"

Best wishes to everyone still waiting for a decision.

Yup same email! Good luck! As far as I was told the rate of approval for US applications is quite high. Like in the 90’s. That reassured me while I was waiting.

Congratulations :D! Yep, everyone gets the same generic email :).

Yep, you can download the immigration statistics from the UKVI website and it shows the approval rate for all US applications (not just spousal visas, but all visa types) for every single quarter from 2005 to 2017.

Every quarter has a visa approval rate for US applications of between 92 and 98%, with the last few quarters being around 95-96%.
