Hello, was just wondering how far out appointments were after submitting the online application? Are the appointments the same as the biometric appointments for non-priority? I'm planning to go to the one in Houston, TX ...
I submitted non-priority last time and seriously regretted it, planning to re-submit a new application priority this time ... We submit the application via Visa4UK first, and then pay + set up appointment on the VSF website?
I think you’re mixing up the Settlement Priority Service ($793) with the Settlement Premium Service ($1900)
If you just want to use priority, which costs $793, you submit the online application, book your biometrics appointment as normal, and then go to the VFS Global website and purchase priority processing and your shipping labels. Then you print the priority receipt and return shipping label, place them in your package, attend biometrics and send everything to New York within 5 days.
The only differences from last time are:
- you purchase priority from the VFS website
- you mail everything to New York instead of Sheffield
If you want to use the Settlement Premium Service, it costs $1900 (and includes priority processing and shipping) and you book a Premium Centre appointment instead of a regular biometrics appointment when you submit the online application. Then you go to the VFS Global website and purchase the Settlement Premium Service for $1900.
After that, you attend your Premium appointment, where you submit your biometrics and documents in person. You will have the option to keep your passport while the visa is processing (which is really all you are paying an extra $1000 for).
Honestly, I feel that the Premium Service is a waste of money, especially as you have a visa refusal (because it may not be any faster), so I would recommend just using the priority service.
Also, has anybody heard anything about when the IHS fee is due to double? Thought it was supposed to in Dec, fingers tightly crossed it doesn't double before I get back to the US in a few weeks ... best if it never doubles at all ...
The increase was approved and signed into Parliament on December 18th, which means it should be increasing on Tuesday 8th January (21 days after it was signed).
