The further out you book it, the cheaper it'll be :)
I know the date I would like to leave which is the 27th making my last day here at work the 22nd or so but I am afraid to book it until I get that decision back

Definitely wouldn't recommend booking unfortunately :( BUT I guess if you can find a REALLY cheap flight and you look at the price of paying to change the flight and it still works out to be a good deal all in, that could maybe be an option?

That's very true.. So far I have found good deals about 2 weeks out on Google Flights, and I'll check with JustJac and see if she can help... on the plus side, my employer is paying my flight  :D

Yeah, most people buy a return and just don’t use the return leg (or use it for a visit back later on), as it’s usually cheaper to buy a return than a one-way.

It will be hard in some ways.. since it is a small family owned business I have watched my bosses kids grow from 6 -12  to 34 - 40  year olds, most now work here now, well all but 1 lol.. and most my co-workers have been here as long as I have.
They are all so very happy for me and have seen me go through a lot of very difficult times and they know how happy I am and that makes them happy.. of course I said for a small price, I will still be available via Facebook to tell them where all the supplies are hidden in plain site in the cabinets  ::) they never are able to find   ;D

I did that! Sort of...I missed a flight back to the US on a trip to visit my husband and so I had to buy a new flight...but it was obviously cheaper to buy round trip so I did that and then paid $100-ish to change the return leg until the following year when I was aiming to have my visa approved by (knowing I may need to change the flight again). Worked out so much better than either buying one-way or wasting the return leg.

I am waiting to get the decision, then have to train my replacement for 2 weeks, so I wont be able to leave till at least 2 1/2 weeks after I get it.. maybe get a good airline price booking a bit in the future

Well at least you have time to prepare.
I am looking to leave within a few days.
Right now we plan to travel one way from Tampa to Houston and then Singapore airlines from Houston to Manchester Uk much cheaper than , Delta  and or Britishairways.
We looked at flights from Orlando also with Virgin.
Hopefully we will be able to plan soon

Nice  :o
I have not attempted to pack yet but plan to send some things over with sendmybag.
We completed a ToR when we sent the dog in December so I listed some things in there just in case  we shipped.
