Home, home.  Cat on lap purring.  All is right in the world.

Off to nap soon.

The sun is shining and the windows are open. A pleasant breeze clearing all the stale air out of our flat.

Had huevos rancheros burrito for breakfast a couple of hours ago, have beef-and-onions-in-ale in the crock pot, am having a mug of American coffee (vanilla nut) from freshly ground coffee beans, and am hearing birdsong and having a quiet day at home.

All the best things in life!

 ;D ;D

Hubby is in the States and I have been catching up on housey things.

And today I am meeting my brother in law's sister for Afternoon Tea.

A lovely tea room with chandeliers and very old fashioned music playing, silver teapots and milk jugs and freshly made sandwiches and cake and a warm, out of the oven, scone.

Today is a good day.

Decided last minute to make pancakes for pudding tonight for only the second time ever. The last minute bit being that I’ve only just stopped at the big Tesco nearby to get mix....they were completely sold out....but I asked the lady restocking shelves if they had any anywhere else in the store and she pointed me to a bag mix on the shelf (vs squeeze bottle)...

That bag was THE LAST bag in that Tesco other people tried I follow suit and ask if there were any other bags left and she said “no sorry that was the last one” while I strutted away.

But pancakes are just flour, egg, milk, baking powder.  Easy without a mix!

It'll take some time to actually earn any money (as it's technically a self employed role) but I finally have something to do *that I'll enjoy*, besides trying to apply for jobs and getting frustrated. And another volunteer opportunity finally appeared too, with a much more organised group. (That one had been in the sign up phase for about 6 months as their time demands increased overnight and it took them a while to figure out their new onboarding program for volunteers. Knowing what they need help with and actual job descriptions helps SO much!) So I finally feel a bit more positive about life here after almost cracking under the pressure last weekend.

I'm a bad wife and not making my husband pancakes today. I keep failing at American style pancakes with alternative flours here, so I'll try a new recipe for him on the weekend.   ;D

I just finished making crepes (milk, eggs, flour, sugar, salt, and oil) for pancake day.  They're prepared and waiting to be tonight's pudding.  Yay!

Mrs Jimbocz is making proper galletes while I type this.  The flour is from France, sort of like buckwheat.  I guess we'll have spinach, sour cream and salmon, maybe ham and eggs inside.

New boyfriend is staying for supper for the first time.  He's OK, but I miss old boyfriend who was actually really nice except he lived outside Swindon.  Quite a posh boy who never had a chance with my little angry angel of a daughter.

I'm currently mourning the loss of a girlfriend. My daughter broke up with her long term girlfriend. They were each other's firsts... and I miss her already.

I told my kids I'm not getting attached to anyone else unless they can stay for at least 10 years.

Oh man, don't tell me it was the Power Ranger girl?  I'll be in mourning for her as well, she's fantastic.

No. But she was almost gone at Thanksgiving. My son and her,  his wife, went through their first rough patch and separated briefly.  So I didn't get to see her during my visit.
