Yeah, I definitely know folks who have trouble with normal guitar strings because of the nickel.  So yay for new strings and less hurty fingers!!!!

Yay!  I've been kind of sceptical about whether the strings would make a difference because the Internet seemed rather sceptical about the issue.  But the state of my fingers, compared to the state of my husband's fingers, cannot be ignored.  We've played about the same amount since we got my guitar, and his skin is intact.  Mine is in various layers of peeling sheets and they feel raw most of the time.  I dread chopping tomatoes, anymore.

The nickel allergy can definitely do that. I tried playing a cheap flute as a kid and it was so awful for my lower lip, constantly in hives. I hope the new strings mean happier fingertips!

Mmm, seems like you might have a nickel allergy looking at your picture!  Report back in a few weeks and let us know how you get on with your new strings  :)

Will do!  I'm really hoping it is/was an allergy and now I can play without so much pain (and wondering if I'm just a wuss, because, look! my husband can play as much as he wants without moaning about it).

About the chickens...Are we sure that chickens are smart enough to know that they shouldn't escape?  And can understand the concept of a reward?

From the article :

"Meanwhile, some males may try to trick females into approaching by making the characteristic food calls even when they have not found anything worth crowing about. Unsurprisingly, females quickly wise up to males who perform this sort of deception too often."

Poor Son of Sailor, he's got the same problem.  Bless his heart.

Oh trust me, my chickens are smart enough.  The know exactly what they're doing.
They knew their route of escape. They've done it before. We need a new latch on the egg hatch now.

They do like to follow me around the garden usually and see what I'm up to. But they weren't interested yesterday in following me back to the coop.
But, when I went to the greenhouse (they know their food and treats are kept in there) , the watched to see what I was doing.  When I grabbed their pellets, they didn't care. But when I grabbed the mealworms, they clambered around my feet.

Tami was saying that to me the other day as well.

I woke up this morning and fed cats and made coffee and toast and ran round like a looney - because I thought it was Sunday and we were running late.

So are now early for the day.

And the sun is coming up earlier!

Life is good!

We've not had too much sun just yet but just the simple shift in daylight hours has made a huge impact in my mood. It's no longer dark between the hours of 430pm and 9am.
