How incredibly sweet! I hope each day gets progressively better :( Just remind yourself how positive of an impact you're having on other people's lives around you.

My moment... Flying back to the States for a mini holiday with my husband. It'll be his first time back since our celebration wedding and my first since my dad's funeral. Glad to see my family but I hate leaving my fur baby here.

Leaving the fur babe is neverrrr fun. It's nice to not have the responsibility at first (as ours stays with in-laws so I don't worry about her getting love/attention/play time with other dogs), but I eventually end up MISSING the responsibility and love

I’m already freaking out about it. Only time I’ve had to leave him was for my dads funeral but husband was here.  I’ll be panicked the whole time worried he’s being fed and taken care of properly.  :\\\'( I need friends that can catsit lol.

How lovely HayJay.

Nothing but commiserations on the work situation for you too.

It's so hard.  :-\\\\ Are you having a cat sitter come to your house? Maybe you could set up a couple of cctv cameras so that you can watch him whenever you want to. That might help ease your worry.

Brother in law is coming to stay at our house. He just irritated me because it seemed like such a hassle for him to stay more than 3-4 days. Luckily, he's now staying for 5.  I would be pumped if someone offered a vacation with all the food he wants, free internet, and our car to drive for a week.

CCTV cameras may make it worse lol. I would be watching the whole time shouting "play with the cat more!!"  :D

Thanks everyone for the kind words!  Today was equally bad.  Another meeting with manager(s) tomorrow so I suspect it will be worse.  Must continue to remind myself of this card.

Have a great time on your mini-vacay, Kristie.  It is always so hard to leave the furbabies behind but I'm sure your will be just fine!

My LMH today: four job applications under my belt, union meeting booked, and the offer from my GP to ring back tomorrow in case I need to be signed off until my occy health appointment next week.  I have options.

Aww, Jay, I'm so glad someone has taken the time to hand-write such a long and thoughtful note to you.  I'm sorry work is $4!+, but four applications down, and as many as it takes to go.

If you take the offer and get signed off 'til the appointment, you'll still have some income, right?  If you can afford it, I say do it.

KristieP, I would catsit if my husband and I both weren't allergic!  I can't promise I would give your kitty back, but I'd definitely take excellent care while you're away.  :)

Thank you. :)

Yes, I would still get full pay if I was signed off work.  I'm going to go in today to see how this meeting with my manager(s) goes - I brought a letter in on Tuesday detailing all of my concerns.  She is meant to be coming back to me today with some sort of "offer" or "plan."  Realistically, I cannot accept anything until OH have made their own assessment, but if the outcome is particularly unsatisfactory then I'm going to give my doctor a ring and not go back until I've been assessed properly.

Just be sure that whatever you agree to today is just for the interim while you wait for the OH assessment.  If OH suggests other modifications to the work situation, make sure there's room in the plan for those to be made.  (Long-winded way of saying "Don't sign anything binding!")

Also, get everything in writing. I hope they are good, but after my experience I don't trust employers or HR very much. :(

I've been pretty diligent about keeping notes since everything has kicked off, even for conversations that seem insignificant at the time.  Not so much about anything historical, but I can remember a few instances last year, quite clearly, where I've had essentially the same talk with my manager's manager and nothing has been done.

I am not particularly trusting of HR as I feel like they are just in the employer's pocket anyway.  Must admit I don't have a lot of faith in the union, either, given my past dealings with our rep, but everywhere else I go I seem to get shut down so I just need to get some advice from somewhere .

Anyway, thank you all for the words of support, advice, and encouragement - it is much appreciated!
