So amazing Jimbo!

I did something I have never done in my adult life today and said I never would.  I’ve ordered a printer.  Sigh, I am ashamed.
I need a printer as well.  Which one did you buy and did you manage to find a good deal?  I don't get why it's a problme though.

I got my delivery of compost and was just relaxing in the garden after potting some things up and this little bumblebee was happily bouncing around all the flowers. Made me happy! (Dicentra and Blueberry blossoms)

I bought a Canon Pixma.

I’ve just always enjoyed not having that extra item to get dusty, be out of ink, take up space, etc.

I get that, printers are a big pain.  I have a color laser one and the quality was worse and worse.  I invested £30 in a new part that didn't fix it and now it doesn't work at all.  We need a printer but I can't spend the money on another color laser but hate ink jets.

Laser printers can usually be troubleshot based on the print quality issues. How old is it? Might be worth having the manufacturer look at it when this is over.

We have a colour laser printer, it was on sale when we bought it and I would never go back to an ink jet!

That was one thing I thought was weird when I moved here... lots of people don't own printers. I've had a printer since the 80's. I couldn't imagine not having one.

Agree!

I print off a lot of sheet music for the band and I have a really good Brother printer.  Unfortunately it's not the kind where I can bypass the ink cartridge (I have tried all mechanisms of it!)  and it costs a fair whack in ink.  But cheaper and easier than going to a copy place.

One of the first things you learn in business school is the Printer & Ink model.  Sometimes called the Razor & Blade model.

The main component is cheap but the refill is where they make their money.

Yes, indeedy.  Unfortunately at the time,  we had bought the printer locally, as we needed it urgently, and we didn't have the option for the kind with refillable cartridges.  I''ve got the kits with the syringes and ink, but these cartridges have a chip embedded in them and I can't break through without actually breaking the cartrige

My husband is cutting the hedges around the back of the stables, and I'm sat in the garden in the sunshine... I got too warm, so I've just finished a Vimto "Eezy Freezy Pyramid" (which remind me of those Minute Maid squeezeable popsicle things, only these don't come in cherry flavour which is a bit of a disappointment), and now I'm just basking.  As long as this weather holds, I can handle this "lost" year... another year of not getting the house done.  But only one more year.  There had better be a vaccine by next year so I can have a kitchen to put my dishwasher in.

Haha... if only we had a proper country house!  The place we rented before we bought this house was the "east wing" off of an actual country house (it was called Berwick House in a village called Berwick St. James).  The house and grounds were beautiful.  The owners hosted the village fete every summer.  Attending the fete was a matter of walking out our front door and across the driveway.

The house we bought looks nothing like that!  But we still love House.  :)

Not exactly a total positive, but fairly positive!

For A&E, under 30 minutes from entering the front door until x-rays were completed.  People just aren't going either because they are safer (yay!) or because they are scared (boo!), but all in all, A&E and subsequent surgery the next day for a broken hip in central London is quick, kind, and efficient.  My husband should be home with a lovely new plate in his hip later today - less than 48 hours after arriving to A&E on Thursday night.

The NHS staff is doing very well coping with non-Covid emergencies.  Please don't put off your emergency out of fear.
