Thank you for this! Need to look into this foe my FIL ad he's 6 hours away. We sat on hold for an hour today with Sainsburys for him (he has parkinsons and dementia and is over 70) after having tried to call the last 3 days without any way to even get on hold and we only just barely got things sorted for him (it was crazy though i appreciate it wasn't the lady's fault, she was just doing her job). Worried about him getting help if something were to happen to his carers... will have a look at that link to see if it might be useful for him!

Definitely fill this out for him. It's of no use to people like me with food and product allergies, but will help make sure people are not overlooked. The issue with independent carers is popping up a lot so I am not sure how the government is going to help there, because so many people rely on someone they pay on their own. They need to have contingency plans in place!

They've started a neighbourhood group on Facebook for my street so I feel a bit safer now. And I have a fresh veg box scheduled for Friday, and my husband is learning how to cook real food.

He doesn't have private carers they are definitely through the council but all it takes is for them to start getting ill and being unable to get to him. He gets meals delivered through a company called Wiltshire Farms but the lines have been really busy (as expected) and bless him, he doesn't realise he needs to stay on hold longer than normal to order his food. He keeps thinking "ill just call back" but he has mild dementia so doesn't realise he's already left it. His carers already go above and beyond to help but there are some things they just couldn't get him and trying to get any grocery chain to help has been a nightmare. It's finally sorted THANKFULLY, but i want to check out the link just in case there are any more issues. Don't want to wait until it's too late.

There are local Covid-19 support groups all over the country.  I joined the one for our area and was amazed at the info it provided.  They had lists of local stores that would deliver groceries, ready meals etc.  People were posting requests for assistance.  Someone would be living in another country and worried about their elderly relative who lived in our area.  People would offer to shop for them or phone them etc.  Young mothers who couldn't get baby milk, someone who couldn't walk their dog etc - all got positive responses from the people nearby.

I think these groups are called Covid-19 support and then your area.  All on Facebook.

Did anyone go out and clap at 8pm?  We got to meet our new neighbours  as we shouted, and clapped, from across the road to each other.

My husband had to stop for petrol today, and he said it was £1.02 a litre.  #ThanksCoronavirus!

Oh, in other news, the garage called about Campervan, and the estimate was under the amount we had set as an upper limit, so my husband authorized them to go ahead with the work.  We're getting him back! ...some day.  (And we're giving the garage business in these uncertain times, so that's good for the economy.  Yay!)

Our next door neighbors are BIG volunteers in our council.  They just arrived home wearing their "Wokingham Borough Council Volunteer" t-shirts and have delivered a large (yet not wasteful) box of fresh fruit and vegetables to every house in the close.  They've been out delivering all morning (I suspect to those registered as vulnerable through the council) and there were extras.  Nothing like a box of fresh fruit and vegetables to brighten your day.  Both kids are now snacking on fresh carrots!

Seen this in my hometown where my family still lives. Really nice idea I think for the kids. Very cute stuff.

Here I am trying to have a pity party about “my life” and I had to scroll upon this:

Sometimes you have to be slapped in the face with a smelly fish to realise how good you’ve got it!  ;D

I had this conversation with my husband in the early days.  Americans are sooooo screwed.

The problem with places like the US and India is that the virus will keep circulating there.  And as long as it does, the rest of the world won't be able to let its guard down.  So until there's a vaccine, I'm going to be living in fear.

It will be as it was before the polio vaccine, I would imagine. There will be waves of it now and then. The world will have to learn to live with it. I only vaguely remember those days, when everything shut down (pools, schools, etc.) and then standing in the line for the first vaccines. It was on a sugar cube, I think, that they gave it to us at the local school.

Once they let us up from lockdown, we'll probably get it. I would assume most people will. Hopefully by that time the medics will be rested and there'll be a bed for us in hospital somewhere, if we need it.

They still don't know if it confers immunity, or, if so, for how long. Or if one would remain immune if it mutates again. Looks like we all get a rather abrupt reminder of our mortality.  :(

On a more cheery note:

On a decidedly less cheery note, I was listening to the call in show on radio 4 after Any Questions today.  People were talking openly about not taking old people to the hospital and offering the chance to stay at home and be with family until the end.  One retired GP was even talking about giving GPs the tools to help the process along.  The presenter was about to cry.

Hospitals can sometimes be worth and a guaranteed death sentence...my SIL works in healthcare and she said they try to get pepple out of hospital if they can and don't have any road blocks preventing it because there is so much more risk keeping them in the hospital. In some ways, it can mean a more guaranteed and quicker death being in hospital  (unfortunately) so i can kind of understand the thought
