Is there any way to find out the status of the application. So nerve wracking that it's coming up to 2 months since sending off the application

Sadly, no.  You send it off and wait.  Now is the time to take up meditation and find your zen.  You will know when you know.  Until then, you wait.  :/
9/1/2013 - "fiancée" (marriage) visa issued
4/6/2013 - married (certificate issued same-day)
5/6/2013 - FLR(M)#1 in person -- approved!
8/1/2016 - FLR(M)#2 by post -- approved!
8/5/2018 - ILR in person -- approved!
22/11/2018 - Citizenship (online, with NDRS+JCAP) -- approved!
14/12/2018 - I became a British citizen.  :)

Thank you , just reading up on citizenship now. Confusing as hell lol. Is it ok if I ask when we can apply please? I don't know if im reading it wrong or if the website is contradicting.

It's saying on one hand you can apply straight away if you have ILR and a spouse of a British Citizen. But then it says we have to physically have been in the country for 3 years before they recieve the application.

The last holiday we went on was 16th - 23rd July 2019.

So does that mean we can in theory apply now or after the 23rd July 2022? (Assuming we dont leave the country for another holiday from now)

You can apply as soon as you have the BRP in your hand. As long as you were in the country on the actual day exactly 3 years before the date of application, you're good to go.

You can apply as soon as you receive your ILR BRP.

If you're married to a UK citizen, the residency requirements for citizenship are:

- you hold ILR (so you can apply as soon as you get your ILR BRP)

- you were physically inside the UK exactly 3 years prior to the date you submit your online application for citizenship (so if you submit it on, say November 15th 2021, you have to be able to show you were in the country on November 15th 2018)

- you have not been outside the UK for more than 270 days in the last 3 years before applying

- no more than 90 days of those 270 days can have been in the final 12 months before applying

When calculating your days outside the UK, you do not count the day you left or the day you returned to the UK, as you were physically in the UK for part of those days...so, for example, if you left on Monday and returned on Friday, that would only count as 3 days outside the UK.

Thank you!! feels like such a weight has been lifted.

That's awesome thank you, not sure how I can prove he/we was in the country 3 years prior, I can prove when we weren't in the country haha!

I'm sure I can find some kind of document to prove that. Thanks again, I don't think I can ever express my gratitude to y'all

All you need is his passport - his travel history/passport stamps will show that he did not leave the UK or enter any other country at that time.

No, you don't need to be in a job.

For citizenship, your US spouse just has to show:
- they are over 18
- they are married to a UK citizen
- they meet the residency requirements
- they have passed the Life in the UK test
- they are of Good Character (no unspent convictions, they've paid their taxes if applicable etc.)

Actually you didn't necessarily need to be in a job for the other visas either - it just depended on how you were able to meet the financial requirement (your UK employment, your US spouse's UK employment, cash savings, non-employment income, pension income) as to whether or not you needed to be employed.

Thank you that's such a relief, our financial situation was setup where I had to sponsor him previously for each visa, so I'm glad that's not needed this time around, I might be looking for a new job and was worried I'd have to stick around until it was approved

Applied for the British Citzenship! Did that on 18/11/2021 and just booked the UKVCAS appointment for 25/11/2021

We're on the home stretch now! Thanks again folks really means a lot to us :). Hopefully this is the last time I ask but was just wonder if we're all set on the documents to upload and in what section?

- Applicant Passport
- Prove English language (Applicant Passport)
- Proof of freedom from immigration time restrictions (BRP)
- Current BRP
- Proof of living in the UK for 3 years, married to British Citizen (Applicant Passport, showing stamps)
- Marriage Certificate
- Two referee declarations
- Spouse proof of British Citizenship (Spouse Passport)

So altogether:
- Applicant Passport
- Spouse Passport
- Marriage Certificate
- BRP
- Two Referee Declaration

Now with UKVCAS document upload, where do I put them? They have the same list as they did for the ILR SET(M)
I've attached a screenshot of the file upload list.

I know that Proof of Application is where we upload the Applicant Passport but I don't know where to upload any other document and all these optional document types are throwing me off. I thought we only needed the list above according the the British Citzenship application checklist?
