Sold a bundle of jeans on Ebay. 7 pairs of jeans. And I only got £8.50 for it. WTF. Whenever I look on ebay to buy a bundle of jeans, they are always £30 and up. So why when I decide to sell a bundle, I dont even make a tenner from it! Ugh!

I love deals like that! We just got a NEXT pink wool coat for my 2 year old off eBay for £2 Sorry you didn't get what you expected...next time try setting a reserve that way if it doesn't hit what you want you get to keep it.

My IA: We haven't gotten a gas bill for over 2 years. DH called so many times to get it sorted and they never did, they just kept sending out letters that they wanted to take a reading. So we never got a bill, never made a payment. Of course, now that we lost our jobs and are facing a terrible time financially, we got a bill for over £1000 and have no way to pay it. It's making me want to throw up to face this added stress. And after 10 days of sight seeing that we couldn't afford, I'm so ready for my parents to go back home so I can start working again and try to adjust to all of these changes.  :-\\\\

Oh J...how can they do something like that?!? I would definitely be on the phone to them when you're mom leaves and rip them a new one...then I would explain the situation and they should be accommodating since it wasn't your fault.

Oh noes! Unnecessary stress on top of being stressed already.  >:( Hope you get this sorted so you can knock that dissertation out.

Jewlz, I would do something like write directly to the CEO marked 'Private & Confidential' evidencing your communications and what you are reasonably able to pay as a payment plan, even if it's only £1.

I'd go to CAB or equivalent to get some advice and I wouldn't leave this one! You have been so proactive and strong! ((Hugs))

'All fuel suppliers (electricity and gas) follow a code of practice that means they won't cut off your supply if you agree a payment plan with them and then keep to it. You'll need to ask your supplier for their code of practice details. They should take into account your ability to pay - complain to Consumer Direct if they don't - see 'What to do if you have problems dealing with your fuel supplier.'

I've calibrated the battery and it seems to be okay for the time being, as in it has a 'normal' status rather than a warning symbol and saying 'replace now'. hmm.

That's just AWFUL about the gas company. I hope it gets sorted for you. That added stress is the last thing you need right now. (HUG)

I got summoned for Jury Duty.  In California.  And Sky are a bunch of a**holes and are jerking us around about our landline, broadband and cable.  We're ready to cancel and go with Virgin, but I think that will take just as long.

Used to have a neighbour who lived across the street from me (he's moved away now), with whom I chatted on the bus sometimes.  It took him months to sort out a problem with Sky, many months, and by the time they got it sorted, he was moving out.  :-\\\\

We don't want to put a dish on the house, so we've never bothered with Sky.  They had a door-to-door salesman come around the other night, which annoyed me.

We've been happy with Virgin.  YMMV.

Hope you were able to sort out your bill today Jewlz.

This morning the school was having a coffee morning.  It would have been a wonderful time for me to meet some of the Mums as we have recently moved and the girls just started.  However, we had a rough night with the 9 year old and I just couldn't bring myself to play 'Happy Mummy'.

Thanks for all the comments, guys. DH told the guy on the phone everything that happened, and he said he would note on our account that we received no communication from them despite numerous attempts to sort this out. Once we receive the bill, we should be able to make a monthly payment to pay it back gradually, I assume. They weren't nasty about it yet, anyway. We will see what happens.  :-\\\\

Worst comes to worst, you could change suppliers & just pay it off, low priority/token payments/pro rata, as an unsecured debt.

Moving is hard... Especially when you have MS. :( I just did about an hour and a half of cleaning and packing in the kitchen, and already need a break. I'm sitting down having a coffee while poor DH is off at the new place lugging things upstairs and cleaning there. This is his 3rd straight day of moving, while I've been at work. I feel like a big wuss.

Oh and also, no internet after today for about 2 weeks. Lame... :(
Finally living with my Husband in London after 6 1/2 years together but apart... and loving my life!

You can't change suppliers if your present suppliers won't release you and they won't release you if you are in debt to them.

If you don't respond to their letters granting them access to read the metre and don't pay them anything by standing order or by going to a bank and crediting their account, then they can install a coin operated gas metre in the house. This means they set the rate at which the debt is settled, for each coin you insert. Landlords don't like metres in houses because it puts the next tenant off.

The best thing to do now is to grant them access to read the metre, then get talking to them about a repayment plan and keep to it.

I got summoned for Jury Duty.  In California.

Jury duty is tricky. I don't know about California but my daughter was called several times in Massachusetts (she was on the voting list) although she was living in the UK. I had to call them each time and say she was a student overseas or working overseas. DS gets called regularly every 3 years but I have only been called once (when living in UK) so was excused and never called again!

Um, I'm like that & I don't even have MS.  :-[

My IAs...I'm cold, which means I need/have to get out of my bathrobe & get some clothes on, and I'm hungry - so I need to walk downtown here & get something for lunch because we don't have much ready (like now!) here.  But I also want a nap.  Am pondering putting the heat on...  :P

It may affect ability to switch suppliers, but it's not an impossible thing.  They have the right to object to the switch, but in practice, they don't universally do that.  No one is saying 'don't pay the bill'.  I speak to people all the time, who have switched energy suppliers, and are slowly paying off the balance on a bill for the previous supplier at the same address.  It's not uncommon.  It might mean having a key/card metre installed though, which isn't the most economical way, of course.  And as my post reads, if worst comes to worst...

Take it easy, PL! :( Moving is bad enough as it is, so don't let it take a toll on your health!

My IA: I was offered a job last Thursday and was informed that HR would be in contact with me to arrange everything, but they were still deciding on the exact start date of the position (4th or 11th of Oct.). It's now been a week and I've still not heard anything. I don't think they're the sort of company that would retract a job offer without letting me know, but I'm wondering how long I should let it go before contacting HR.  :-\\\\
