at Aldi you can get croissants and dinner rolls in the refrigerated Pillsbury-style can.
Thank you!   :)   I have some recipes that use refrigerated biscuits/rolls.  When I get back I'll have a look at Aldi and give them a try.

I think I've seen the croissants at Tesco too. They're in a weird place though, next to the butter & marge.

about 3 weeks ago i bought actual Pillsbury dinner rolls (in the can/tube) in Asda, but i've never seen them there before or since.
I thought the Aldi ones tasted better anyway.

Every time you post about this I get all excited, until I remember that I've checked all three (yes, THREE - and about to be FOUR!) Aldi stores in this town and none of them EVER have canned dough!  Teesside...the armpit of the UK.  Even our Aldi stores are deprived. :P

I'm looking for Wheat Chex and American Cheerios (or a close match). The Cheerios here (only oats) are little different than the US version; there seems to be a coating (sweet) of some kind on the "o's." I think I can overcome the Cheerio coating, but don't know which of the wheat cereals, if any, would be a close match. I add cereals to pretzels & peanuts, season with worcestershire sauce, garlic and a little melted butter. Bake in a 225F oven for a couple hours.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Ahh, yes.  The search for American Cheerios is a long and fruitless one - if you want to pay £5 for a medium-sized box, Skyco and some of the other import companies have them.  I personally just mailed myself eight giant boxes when I was in the US last month.  ;D  I can't stand the Cheerios Oats that they have here - they taste like Frosted Cheerios in the US!

I keep forgetting to post this. Longacres, a huge garden shop in Surrey has a large shelf with American food. Vlasic pickles, Kraft Mac & Cheese, Fruit Roll Ups, Gold Fish and a lot of other stuff. Besides that, it is an amazing garden center.

Meg there's one not too terribly far from me - I'll try to check it in the next couple of weeks and if they carry it, we can sort you out next time I see you!

There is a current special on a branded range of "American" food at Aldi.  There are dried cranberries, ranch dressing, some weird canned soups, and some cheese sauce in a jar.  They also have 250ml Canadian maple syrup for £1.99 right now.

From Thursday 10, there is a special on Mexican food, including jars of jalapeno peppers in brine, and cheap tequila.

Mountain Dew was sold in the UK for a while in the 1990's but it apparently 'didn't catch on' so it was withdrawn from the market.

Check your local Chinese/Asian supermarket.  This is where we can find Mtn Dew & sometimes root beer for semi-reasonable prices.  Apparently it's really popular in Singapore (or was it Malaysia - I can't remember), so the Asian supermarkets tend to import it along with their other stuff.

Some Tescos have a Caribbean section where you might find grape soda (not Welch's) OR if you're really desperate you can make grape soda by mixing grape juice and club soda.
