We have this "new idea- innovation process" at work -in which you can submit ideas, they get ranked and if you make it into the final round, you get to present to upper management where they can make final decisions ala "dragon's den" style whether or not to use your idea for the company.

They use a rigourous stepped process to determine if the ideas are good enough- and you if make it to the final round you get £300 (pre-tax - so you end up with about £180 still really nice!!!!!!)   So you can imagine they get a lot of suggestions, but they only take a few forward.  I think if your idea is taken forward from the final round ,you get another award.

UP: My idea I submitted was ranked really high! Yay.  So I was about to make it into the final round for this quarter.   I am quite pleased with that.  :)

IA: They lost my paperwork and then just found it. And remembered that I had a really good idea. So I didn't get to make it into the final round this time. So now it's going forward to next quarter. Where it will have to go through the process again.  So I may or may not make it.  Fingers crossed though  :)

UP:  I have done sweet F-all today.  :)  (ok a bit of prelim Christmas shopping online, but no purchases/orders as of yet)

IA:  I need to go look for DH's paper driving licence & god knows where that could be as it's not in the 'Driving Licence' file!  (he needs to update the photo on the photocard bit - so the DVLA has decreed, but has to have both bits to send in with it)  ::)

My IA: We keep shoveling right in front of the house and leaving a bank behind so someone won't pull into it but so I can back into the spot...Seriously we have cleaned it every day so we can get in and out.  I left today to go to the grocery store and came home and WHAM neighbor 2 doors down parked their big van thing in front of our house in the clean spot.
So I did the British thing, threw on my indicator and got the shovel out of the trunk...I started to clean a new spot about 3 doors down that was PACKED of ice and snow.

UP:
The people that live there (nice older couple) came out and said sorry I am in your spot (he wasnt) he said let me move to the back because he has 4 wheel drive! YAY for nice neighbors.

I did try to go around back and lucky I didnt get stuck

IA: I had to go out in the freezing cold.

UP:  I found a pharmacy that could partially fill a prescription I've been trying to have filled for two weeks now.

IA: Since the pharmacy was close to B&Q I thought I'd go look for a snow shovel with no luck.

UP: I was able to get some indsutrial strength cleaner which is the only thing that seems to work on our toilet and at the post office I picked up a big envelope to send my mom back one of her shirts.

IA: I realised yesterday when going through our closests for clothes that I forgot to send in the Christmas box I sent on Monday my mom's shirt she bought while we were in the US and dh accidentally put in our bag.

IA:  I missed a package while I was out.

UP:  It's only up the road at the post office.

Hopefully I'm now done for the day with IA's!  :)

UP: Had a sports massage appointment this afternoon and I think it loosened my neck up a bit.

IA: Still crazy stiff, and she wants to see me two more times. (Which is fine if it fixes things, but means another 5 weeks until we're done and things might be fixed.)

IA: Oy, well Moray council really messed up their ploughing and created a large hole and divot into the road that filled up with ice and water and snow- well we ended up plowing the civic into the hole in the road,as we didn't realise it was there as it only looked like like a tiny puddle- we ended up hitting over 2 feet off ice and snow and completely and utterly smashing the undercarriage and smashing my radiator, losing all the antifreeze, smashing the front end, and I smashed my knee into the dashboard-   and then we got stuck in the snow just after it.  My bonnet is all messed up.  >:(

UP: However,  I am completely and utterly amazed at the kindness and compassion of complete strangers. This farmer came to the rescue, calling his neighbours in this rural town and they all pulled us out and this farmer gave us cups of coffee and let us use his phone and everything. The farmer had called the council 4 times this week, once today, to the council, about the hole this week as one of his neighbours had almost flipped his car when hitting it.

IA: We had to get the car towed back 60 miles to Inverness- as there wasn't anywhere that could do the bodywork out that way. Goodness knows what this will all cost me in the end. We found a nice Christmas basket to send to this farmer, except John Lewis doesn't even recognise the postcode- roll eyes.

UP: We didn't flip the car and we're alive to tell the tale :)
