IA: It's really cold in the flat, even with two layers on.

UP: Only have to deal with it for one more day, as we're off to the US tomorrow! Plus the bonus of not paying to turn on the heat until December. :)

Have a fantastic time! I'm doing a happy dance for you and just a bit jealous, even though I know next year I will be with my family for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Still, my joy for you overrides my jealousy.  ;D

Aw, thanks! Wish I could skip all the plane travel required, but I'm looking forward to seeing family (and introducing them to BF). :) Should be a good trip.

I've gotten to the point where I don't mind the long plane ride. Between books, crosswords, and movies when we book on flights where we get to choose our own, it seems to go rather quickly. It is the sitting around in airports and the shorter flight (because of it being a smaller, bumpier plane) that I'm still learning to love.

Introducing the family to 'the one' is always a great feeling.  [smiley=smitten.gif]

Yeah, the long-haul flights don't bother me too much, but we've got 8 flights altogether on this trip, so that will get old. (Plus some layovers which, as you say, can get boring.)

Eight! Now I get what you are saying. We've always had two going, and two coming. The long haul one into Chicago, Atlanta or Philadelphia depending on who we book with, then the short one - 2 hrs from Philly, 1 hr from Atlanta or 45 minutes from Chicago into Louisville, KY and then the hour long drive to mom's in Indiana. By then I am so happy to be out of airports and have missed road trips so much from not having them here that I love the drive back.  ;D

Yeah, we're doing a 3-legged trip around/across the country to visit family next week, and each leg has a stop. Not a huge deal, though, since all but one of the flights would've been pretty short anyway, so 2 shorter legs isn't bad. Bit annoying that my long layover is in Philly (where I know no one) and we have two really short layovers in Phoenix (where my best friend lives).

IA: I had to get up at 4:45 this morning.

UP: I actually don't feel too bad and since I got to work early, I'll leave early!

You could always wander around and look at the Lego Liberty Bell.  ;D We had a six hour layover there in July, and we did a lot of wandering around just to burn some time. It always seems to work out the wrong way for getting to see people during layovers. Seems the airlines would use a crystal ball and see to people's wishes.

Well, I'm not sure how to feel about this...

Since I was ordering stuff for Thanksgiving anyway, I also ordered a box of Kraft Deluxe mac & cheese.

I practically lived on that stuff at home.  I'd eat a whole box for dinner.  I haven't had any for over 8 months.

I made some tonight as a side-dish.  My first thought was, 'my god, did I really eat that much?'  My second thought was 'my god, it's too salty!'

So, I guess that, since I moved here and had to cut out all the convenience foods and fast foods I ate at home, my palate has changed.  And I feel kind of ambivalent about that.

On the bright side, though, I've lost 2 stone.

Luckily (or not?) it's not that long. :) We'll probably wander around the various bookstores in the airport, though, and I will work on dragging the BF out without buying tons of books.

IA - I have a bad cold which forced me to call off work today. I slept until noon and now feel a bit better.

UP - DH brought me breakfast in bed this morning! He's never done that before!

IA- I didn't get the job.  156 applicants and 17 interviewed.  I figured I wasn't getting it when the interviewer told me that I was lucky to get to that point.  ::)

UP- I am going to start my own jewelry business. I'm fed up with with the job market dictating how and when I'm going to make money. So, I am investing what I have left and going for it.  Wish me luck!

Lots of luck! :) Sometimes you just have to jump off the application/CV/interview/hopes of interview/frustration merry go round and go for it yourself. :) Besides, being your own boss is always a good thing.

Mine:
Not a UP but a P: Tree is up and looking good.

IA: I can't leave the dang thing alone. Every year I jump up every 15 or so minutes to tweak or adjust it in the first couple days, then at least once an hour for the rest of the season. I can't stand having too many of one thing (Santas, snowmen, stars, gingerbread men, M&Ms etc) or too much of one colour grouped together. Between that and thinking a spot might be too bare or too crowded, I am forever moving things.  ::) Still, even though it frustrates me I can't just leave it as is, I get the benefit of it being just a little different all season.
