I've been subjected to instant coffee, living here with DH and in-laws. They drink Douwe Egberts, which is supposedly the best stuff ever created. I beg to differ. It tastes like water! I'm guessing this is going to be a resounding no, but, does anyone else drink instant?

Put more coffee in then! Kenco Rich Roast for me although next time I'm buying some Percol Americano instant as it is one of my favourite ground coffees and they've just brought out an instant version.

I did manage to find a decent instant that my husband drinks, it's Nescafe Brazilia Extra-Forte and the packaging is in Portugese and I have only found it at Farm Foods but it's cheap & cheerful and I can stomach the odd cup when DH makes it (he won't try to use my press) for me and he likes it.

Why can't you buy and make your own coffee now?

These things are great, and you can bring it along when you visit someone.

I just hope that more people will ignore the fatalism of the argument that we are beyond repair. We are not beyond repair. We are never beyond repair. - AOC

I'm not keen on 'rocking the boat' here at numero 9. Grin and bear things is the way forward here. But, that's for another thread. :D

Got a package from my parents today and there was Dunkin' Donuts coffee inside.  I've never actually had it for home, just always got it at the shop.  Either way, it's safe to say I am pleased!  :D

We drink a lot of instant because we have a tiny kitchen and no counter space for the coffee maker.  Therefore the filter coffee maker gets hauled out for weekends and we have instant during the week.  We tend to have Kenco or other fairtrade coffee as we boycott Nestle.  Tastes fine to me, second the "use more coffee" suggestion.  I use a heaping teaspoon per mug, and I drink it with semiskim milk.  For beans we use the Costco Starbucks blend.  Must admit I miss flavored coffee - I tank up while in the US!
I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I don't know the answer.

I'm still making my way through the Java Jampit from Taylor's...today I made a pot and the smell brought back really nice memories of when I lived in Rockridge and used to make a pot of Mocha Java from Peaberry's before I left for work  :)

WebyJ - I can relate with the smell bringing back memories.  My college friend sent me 3 bags of WaWa coffee (2 regular and 1 hazelnut) and now I am using the hazelnut and every morning I make it, it takes me back to Jersey having coffee with my mom in the morning.

I cant wait to bring back flavored coffee in September. I hope to have at least 5-8 bags I hope they dont think I am bringing in drugs  :o

We still have some Wawa hazelnut in the freezer. We'll bring some more back in November.

I have to send a big shout out to Long Island Bagel Store Coffee...especially the flavoured kind (crumb cake flavour in particular) makes bumping into people from High School a bit less awkward when you have a cuppa to sip from! Also acts as a shield when my Dad announces to all and sundry that "they" have come all the way from England!!!  ;)

Elliejean,
Just noticed your dilemma about the small kitchen and no room for a coffee maker.  Have you thought about trying a Melita?  This little number gets put on top of your mug, with a filter in it of course, you pour the hot water, and it filters through.  It takes up virtually no space . . .  You use a very fine grind of coffee. It makes a really good cup. This way you could go back to having a decent cup during the week, too!
