I'm debating.  It's snowing buckets here and I'm meant to go into town for school.  I don't wanna!!!!  *But I should...*

ETA: My programme manager told me to stay in and get well.  Here's me curling up under my blanket with a big, fat mug of tea.   :D

It was thawing out yesterday, which was kind of unfortunate, really, as the roads had been cleared, and then the water on the roads froze overnight, making the roads even more treacherous, and now it has started snowing again and we've had a couple of inches already since about 6am. The school was open today, but DH didn't think I should try to drive on the black ice to get there this morning, so I didn't risk it. But now I feel awful that I'm not at work.  :-\\\\

Its bucketing down in South Manchester, I was out on the school run this morning, but have no plans for the rest of the day.

Yesterday I fell on a slippery sidewalk holding my baby, it was really scary. I am feeling the jolt today.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!  Now, our bus service has shutdown!  I really, really hate the snow!  I'm definitely not running to the post office now!

Snow is over the top of our door now (which has steps leading to the ground).  We are having to open the door every hour or so just to push the snow back so we don't literally get stuck inside.  All the shops are out of milk and bread but luckily we just had shopping delivered a few days ago so we're good on food for at least a week.

I dislike snow so much.  I'm a bit nostalgic as it reminds me of home but I hated it there too.  This is the main reason we decided not to go home for Christmas (winter weather sucks regardless of what side of the pond you're on) and wait until the summer where we can have some real heat and enjoy outdoor swimming pools!

Yikes! DH gets back to Leeds today and doesn't have any boots, etc. with him.

Yes Sarah, you should definitely stay warm and dry and enjoy it while you can (you don't get many snow days in the UK -- hope this is not a trend  ???) And you need to get yourself well. I had a terrible cough/cold the first winter I was in Leeds so had to stay home. My boss's wife dropped off a little basket of things like Lem-Sip, bottle of Ribena and so on, which was nice.

I hope he has a sled because it's seriously coming down today. Hasn't stopped for about 5 hours or so. Jon is trying to get home but so is everyone else in Leeds City Centre, it's totally gridlocked and the buses aren't taking hills, which is unfortunate for Jon because our house is at the top of a hill, so he's going to have to walk some of the way.

Holy Cow! That suggests the buses won't be getting up Headingley Lane.

BD- buses aren't running currently, and trains are slow if at all.

D was supposed to come round tonight for tea and conversation, but he's stuck with everyone else in the city-centre.  Thanks Universe.  ::)  He's not sure how/if he'll get out of the city-centre today at all.  Stupid weather. grumble grumble grumble.

South Yorks is the worst according to the BBC- they couldn't even get to Sheffield!  The BBC!

:(  I hope you and the baby are okay rachee!!

Lots of snow near Harrogate.  School let out at lunchtime out here in the country.  I haven't seen a train pass by for hours.  I'd like to curl up with a hot coffee and some biscuits but I need to avoid the biscuits so I guess it's just coffee for me.

Today's snow outside my kitchen door.

(gosh those photos were tiny!  now a bit larger.)

That's what I thought about mine as well  :)

It sounds seriously crazy in England! I'm really happy with the amount of snow we have here (though every time a few more flakes fall I cheer internally) - I can't imagine dealing with that kind of snow!

ETA:  I am seriously thinking of putting a Slanket on my Xmas wishlist - and if I get one, that's where you'll find me this winter.  :P
Don't. My mom sent me one last winter as a "surprise" (she needn't have bothered - I nearly choked when I saw the shipping price on top of the purchase price. Plus I think they're really tacky), and the fleece is SO crappy. My first thought was "oh, at least I can cut it up and sew something from it", but I swear to you - if you hold the slanket/snuggie up to the light you can see the lamp through it. It's so thin and useless, we just use it for the cat now. It wouldn't keep anything warm!

You're much better off getting a big, wool ex-Army blanket for warmth, plus a heavy sweatshirt!
