I also like Kevin and Micheal as unisex names.

Kevin and Michael are unisex names? I've never met a girl with either of those names (though I've know girls who use a more masculine form of Michelle or Mikaela, but their legal names have been the feminine form).

For girls I like names like Elizabeth, Victoria or Charlotte - names that are really pretty in long form but you can personalize (liz, lizzy, beth, betsy, liza, lisa, bess; vicky, tori, rory; chary, lottie, charlie) to reflect your personality.

As a Jennifer, I mostly value not having two or three other people in your class with the same name, so I'm going to be checking the top 100 names in both the US and UK and ruling out anything too near the top.

The one advantage to sharing prospective names with at least a few people is getting outside opinions on potential childhood hazards - initials that spell something humorous, unfortunate nicknames, value as rhyming slang....

The actress Michael Learned is the only one I've ever heard of. And definitely no Kevins.

I want my child to have a unique name. As someone else said above, I think its rather irritating when you have the same name as 5 others in your school or work place. I just think that some common names are rather boring. I don't mind my name, or my boyfriends, but they are both pretty common. If my boyfriend and I ended up having a child in England, I would want him/her to have a unique English name.

I also wouldn't want to give my child a ridiculous name. At work, I see thousands of names a day....I've seen some pretty unfortunate names and always think, I would never do that to my child! Names where the first name and the last name go together and form some sort of saying or weird word. I bet the parents were laughing about it before the child was born and thought it was really clever or funny  ???

Re: weird spellings of traditional names, I was born "Sarah," but owing to the huge number of Sarahs and Saras in my grade, when I was 16, I started experimenting with alternate spellings.  I went through Xarah, Zarah, Sarahe, and Sayra before finally hitting on Saira, and it's been spelled that way ever since.  I like to think it's unique rather than weird, though I've since discovered (after a sheltered youth in white-bread Wisconsin) that Saira is actually a traditional Indian name.  Sometimes just a tiny tweak can make a person feel much more of an individual.  I think that changing the spelling of my name made me a different person.  No disrespect to Shakespeare, but there's actually quite a lot in a name.

Alternate spellings of common names doesn't bother me as much as people who have a name spelled like millions of other people, but pronounce it in a unique way. And they get all bent out of shape when people pronounce it the 'wrong' way.

I had a friend whose gf was named 'Brianna'. Most people pronounce it 'Bree-anna', but she was, 'Bry-anna'. She'd get really annoyed if it was mispronounced.  ::)

I looked and looked all over google, because I had thought that there was a supermodel girl called Kevin. Totally, utterly, completely 100% wrong. Ah well. Was thinking of the actress Micheal Learned, though! :)

I don't know where I got the idea that there was a runway model whose first name was Kevin. ??? The only "famous" Kevin fashion wise was Kvyn Aucoin. At least that's all I found on google. Oh well, never mind! :)

My husband and I love ancient Celtic myth but the names (aside from Arthur and a few others) don't really translate well.  I'm not naming my future baby Culhwch.

Hahah, that's a good one! I had to read it a few times to get it. Hope they didn't go through with it? I suppose it wouldn't be too noticeable unless someone really thought about it.

Here's one: Precious Jewell. also, Kelly Kelly.

There's Princess Michael of Kent, though she got that name through her marriage...I always wondered why she had to take a boy's name though none of the other royals did...

I know two women named Michael, both Israeli. Might have something to do with it.
