I got a Sony eReader for Christmas, and I've been reading way more than normal.  Right now I'm reading 1984 for the first time.  Kind of reminds me of my work, but I like it.

Yeah, I love love love my reader! Had it for about three months and I take it everywhere with me.

And the card attached would say
"Thank you for being a friend!"

After a trip to the library, I have a huge to read pile.  Probably going to read Trainspotting first while finishing Mitfords:Letters Between Six Sisters. I think the editor is a bit, shall we say, "not neutral" in how she frames the letters and perhaps her choices, it's pretty interesting nonetheless.

I agree with you.  I did find it interesting despite the slight bias.  I'd like to read Trainspotting also; thanks for the reminder.

I have Greenery Street by Denis Mackail waiting for me at the library.

Oh, cool!  I can't wait.  I am basically just looking off the Persephone list and seeing what I can get at the library.  :)

It's the sort of book where nothing at all happens - my favourite kind!  :)

I just finished that! Great book, one of McCullough's best.

Their books are also really beautiful, as well as being good! The new paperbacks they've put out in the US aren't quite as nice, but still very pretty. But the gorgeous original dove-grey covered ones just make me swoon!

Yes, I've been lucky enough to get the grey covers here from the library and they're beautiful!

Yep, loved it!  DH was not impressed that I sat around all evening reading it, but hey, that's cool.  :)

I've just finished Wedding Season by Katie Fforde. Utter rubbish - but pure escapism. Now I'm reading a collection of short stories by Carol Shields.

I'm reading Running Wild by Victoria Clayton.  It's the third of her books that I've read, the first being one that my MIL gave me when I first got here.  I thought it would be just a standard chicklit/romance sort of book, and was hugely surprised when it turned out to be intelligent and well-written, with interesting, compelling characters.  I also like that her books are all set in the late '70's, a time I know next to nothing about since I was just being born then.  So they've been educational as well!

I'm also reading Watching the English, Tears of the Giraffe, and the latest Lush newsletter  ;D
On s'envolera du même quai
Les yeux dans les mêmes reflets,
Pour cette vie et celle d'après
Tu seras mon unique projet.

Je t'aimais, je t'aime, et je t'aimerai.
