Ok, finished The Life of Pi and . . . hmmm. First of all, the nautical terms were too much for me to digest and I just skipped over most of them. Although I doubt that really matters too much to the story, still . . .
It was enjoyable but I guess I'm missing something.

I've just started A Small Island.

The Looking Glass Wars by Frank Beddor

(From the back cover - You think you know the true story of Alice in Wonderland?  Well think again.  Alyss is destined to become Queen of Wonderland...  Until her parents are murdered.  She flees to safety in our world.  Years pass.  Now it is time to return.)

My 12yo actually recommended this book to me...she read it on the plane on her last UK/US trip.  I'm only a little ways into it (no murders yet) but so far so good!
When I am grown-up I will understand how BEAUTIFUL it feels to administrate my life effectively.

Until then I will continue to TORCH all correspondence that bores me and to dance NAKED over the remnants of its still glowing embers.

Sounds along the same line as Wicked. Cool!

I've just started A Small Island.

We did that earlier this year in my book club and nearly all of us (myself included) loved it. I'm anxious to hear what you think when you're finished!

I'm half way through Running With Scissors by Augusten Burroughs.  The fact that it's a true story is very disconcerting.  Are there people out there who really do those types of things?!

Just started Between the Bridge and the River by Craig Ferguson.  I heard a fabulous interview with him about the book, and immediately picked it up.  I'm only about 30 pages into it and I love it.  Now we only need to convince him to drop the TV gig and write more books!

I loved that book. Wow. You just have no idea how normal you are till you read that.

Exactly how I feel!  I finished it last night and just sat there in amazement!  I want to read his others, but the library doesn't have them.

I didn't know much about this book, but just looked it up on Amazon and it sounds great! I'll have to add it to my must-read list. Thanks!

I was just reading Labyrinth by Kate Mosse (for my book club), but gave up on it. I've never abandoned a book club book before, but this one was pure rubbish. Ugh. The writing was abysmal. To make matters worse, it's about 700 pages long! I made it to page 400 but then decided I couldn't waste any more of my life on it.   >:(

I have Dry if you want it. PM your addy and I'll drop it in the post. I found it in Hay-on-Wye for £1, so don't mind sharing.  ;D

I'm halfway through "The Time Traveler's Wife".  It was a bit hard to get into but I am enjoying it.  I don't usually have lots of time to read so I only do it at night, just before I go to sleep.  It's a thick book and it's taking me longer than usual.
