I got so excited over the last few days of last week at the number of decision emails that were received and now it’s seems to have slowed down again. Hoping it picks back up. I’d love an early birthday present  ;D

Hi all,

My wife's visa arrived much FASTER than we expected. Amazing! I'm sure those of you who have been through the stress and uncertainty will know how happy and relieved we are. Here's hoping for speedy resolution to everyone's applications.

Timeline:
Application submitted online (Spouse Settlement - Priority):  20 March
Biometrics taken: 23 March (San Antonio, TX - drove from our home in Austin so she could get an earlier appointment)
Documents sent via post to Sheffield: 23 March
Documents received via post Sheffield: 26 March
Email saying Docs received at UKVI ("Online application has been received..."): 26 March
Timeline given: 12 weeks (Priority, 30 Business Days)
Decision-Made Email: 3 April
Passport received: 5 April, Visa Approved!

Total waiting time: 12 working days from online application received (9 working days from biometrics taken)

Congratulations!  ;D

i plan on booking with IcelandAir with my pup to france.  Not sure if you're looking for dog as carry on (must be under 20-22lbs including carrier depending on the airline - if they allow it at all). Mine is going checked baggage, cause with his carrier, he's gonna total around 75lbs.  For IcelandAir from portland oregon to france it's $174.  For them, you book your flight, then call their information line and alert them you're bringing a dog as checked luggage.  I'm not sure when you pay, as i haven't reached that point yet.

So I bought my ticket, talked with an online rep and a person on the phone there's a bit of conflicting information.

I'm payin 195.00 for my dog which is fine (that's including the taxes I believe)

But they said online it couldn't weigh more than 70lb and the max carrier size they allow is the one I have (hopefullythey won't say it's too small for my dog, she's pretty petite)

But on their website it says that the max they allow is 88lb? So I'm calling tomorrow, again.

I do know now that you pay at the airport but reserve your space ahead of time! :)

their website says 40kg (which is 88lbs), so you may have talked to someone who couldn’t get the conversion right :P

if i wasn’t taking my dog this time, i’d stick with norwegian air. gotta drive to seattle to get one (4 hours away), but worth the savings. around £100 each way for round trip (even buying tickets day of trip on december 23, from uk to seattle round trip for 2 was only about £750).
I didn't realize it was that cheap out of Seattle! That's where I fly from but I have only ever gone on BA direct. I'll have to look into it!

Hi all,
Just planning ahead on flights and trying to get an idea of cost... I know that you're not supposed to fly through Dublin because of immigration in Ireland vs the UK, but would I be alright flying air portugal that stops in Lisbon before going on to Manchester?

You can connect from anywhere in the world, other than an airport in the Republic of Ireland.  So Lisbon is A-Okay!

Day 10 here! I was thinking about the move and all of a sudden I looked at my closet (American) and noticed that I have 65 pairs of high end shoes (don’t judge me!), which I don’t want to leave behind! Will I get charged at customs for bringing so many with me?

Yes, so bring them for me!  If you are a size 7 (UK 4, EU 37.5).   ;D

No, you won't be charged on them.

No, but I would include them on your TOR form just in case with approximate value. :) but... Make sure there will be space for them. We don't have the storage for that many shoes and our house is pretty big!
