Funnily enough, came across somebody on Reddit who was asking for experiences and was going to join UKY as I suggested but it "cost money" to join (£1donation to deter trolls) and that they heard it's "not very good" here. I asked where they heard that and what it was they were told because I imagine it's probably from a group (like that FB) that has given the wrong information.

Maybe they had heard that from someone who was applying from another country where the process is different?

I'd like to think that this is what happened and that it wasn't just somebody who didn't like hearing the correct advice. Exact words making me think otherwise were:

FYI: UK-Yankee makes you pay to post. I signed up and couldn't post and the site could be better done really. Finally figured out I could not post because I needed to pay. Granted it's not much money but I did hear bad things about UK-Yankee, so am hesitant to pay.

I've asked in my response to them but they've not responded yet (was only a day ago). I also advised them on what the "payment to post" was and how there was even a note about how they can potentially have the fee wave it they are reallllyyy put out by £1 and that it's the only place where the rules of posting facts for immigration are that it HAS to be quoting gov websites etc...

Wondering if it's somebody that didn't listen, had issues, and then went on to badmouth UKY? or if it's even somebody that didn't like being corrected in that FB group mentioned?

I feel like there are a few people who might think that. You'll have to narrow down when you say *that* guy! hahahahaha :' D (kidding, lets not get too specific!)

Perhaps it's an immigration advisor who didn't like being told they were wrong?
