Hi all, I am pretty certain I know the answer to this one, but I hoped to double-check:
Are you currently in the UK on Temporary Admission, Temporary Release or Immigration bail?
My wife came on fiance visa, and as far as I can see, this is not Temporary Admission, so the answer would be no?

The answer is No to all of those.

I believe they have to do with violating immigration law and either having been arrested/on bail for being an illegal immigrant in the UK, or only having been allowed into the UK as a visitor for a short period of time due to being considered an overstay risk (where U.K. immigration have kept her passport so she can’t attempt to stay here illegally).

Hi there,  this is another one I am pretty sure I know is a "no" answer but wanted to check:
Your Home Office reference number

Do you have any Home Office reference numbers? (Required)
If you have previously made an application to remain in the UK, you can find a reference number on letters from the Home Office, called 'Our Ref' or 'Case ID'. If not known, select 'No'.

I am guessing as this is our first FLR(M) after Fiance Visa, the answer is "no". I take it it doesn't want the Fiance Visa reference number?

Just put no for that. They have quite enough other identifying information to know who you are!   :)

This is a question that made much more sense to us on the paper form- "When did you first meet your partner?". It no longer says "in person" at the end, but I am guessing this is what it still means? Or does it now meet when we first met online (as we did before we met in person)?  ???

I’d go with in person.

Is there space to put both?

If not, I would probably put when you met in person and then explain elsewhere that you had already met online on x date.

Thanks guys. You can only put one date, so my wife and I agreed to put the date we met in person on the online form, and explain in her cover letter we had met online before. Why they had to remove clarity I can't comprehend  ::)

In the past, UKVI haven’t really considered meeting online to be properly meeting... so traditionally, they have wanted to know the date you physically met in person.

I’m sure it’s deliberate... the old website used to be much clearer and explained the requirements in much more detail, but every time they revamp the website or change the forms, everything seems to get much more vague and confusing :(.

Yes, I would not be surprised at all if it is intentional and they will only grant a visa if absolutely forced to. I think my wife and I are pretty competent, but it feels every other question that we're hitting a brick wall. Oh well, back to the grind  :D

Hi there, my wife and I were wondering about something. She has not changed her surname after the wedding (she will likely change her surname, but we decided to do it at a later date as we are busy enough as it is right now). However she would prefer to be known by "Mrs", is it OK if she puts this down on the online form? She hasn't changed that anywhere else, but will do in the coming months.

No, the name on the online form MUST match the name on her passport EXACTLY... and her visa can ONLY be issued in the exact name on her passport.

If she thinks she will want to change the name in her passport in the next year or so, she should do it BEFORE she applies for this visa, because it’s a big hassle to change it after the FLR(M) has been granted.

This is because her passport name and the name on her visa must match at all times. If she changes her name on her passport she MUST also change it on her visa within 3 months, or she can be fined £1000 and potentially have her visa curtailed. However, to change her name on the visa, it costs £150-200 and can take up to 6 months to be processed, and she would be without her passport and visa for all of that time.

So, she should either change her name on her passport now, and apply for the visa in the new name, or wait until just before she applies for her next FLR(M) in 2.5 years or ILR in 5 years and change it then, so that then next visa will be issued in the new name.
