Hello folks!

I just submitted my application using the app. and though it was easy these situations are always so stressful! I received the email invitation to use the app on Aug. 25 and just did it today (Aug. 27).

My experience, in case any little points help someone:

1. Before you start get your phone and test some good, well lit spots around the house with a plain background, and where there will be no shadow from your phone cast on your face.

2. Do the same for the document(s) you need to upload if you're taking pictures of them. I used my BRP card because I thought it's one photo and I wasn't sure if passport would require lots of pictures of all the pages? I put it on the bed, which has a dark cover on it for a dark background, and make sure the ceiling light isn't reflecting on it.

3. When I was doing the "Liveness test" (hahah what a funny name!), I got stressed out because it kept failing! When you turn your head keep it still after until you hear the little beep and it tells you the next move. It still kept failing though, so I went right in front of my window and sat on the bed (turn off any lights behind you) and repeated it. Finally it worked!! Needed more light.

4. When I took the picture of my BRP card, it's after that you get to move the little circles to make sure it's cropped, but my picture was upside down and there was no option for flipping it. It's a clear picture so I used it, hopefully they will flip it and not make a big deal out of it....I HOPE!

5. I had already uploaded all my documents way back in May to the website so I didn't upload any more. It didn't ask for any more even though it said you need one in each category and I didn't. I know some of those areas were not applicable to me. So I just clicked SUBMIT and Bob's you uncle...hopefully!

I'll let you know how long it takes to hear anything back.

(PS. Becca I hope you get yours sorted! My phone isn't super new either but it is maybe three years old and my husband doesn't have one! Please let us know what happens, my husband asked if you can use a computer but I don't know that either.)

Cheers!

That may be because of the Apple ID you are using with your iPhone, rather than the phone itself.

I have 2 Apple IDs, one registered with my UK credit card and one registered with my US credit card... and I can only download certain apps with each Apple ID.

So if I want to download a US-specific app, I use my US Apple ID and if I want to download a UK-specific app, I switch back to my UK Apple ID.

Thanks ksand24! I never thought of that and will look into it further. It would solve a lot of small headaches for sure. ;)

Has anyone tried using an iPad for the app? Just an idea for anyone who is having problems with older phones.

Thanks for all the help everyone.  After looking through the info on the UKVCAS site and thinking through some creative (and not so creative) solutions, I've just booked an appointment.  The location is very convenient and I got a slot mid morning on Tuesday.  So hopefully that will complete the application process for me and begin the waiting.   :)

I got my IDV app invite email! SUPER excited about it.

Timeline:
Applied: May 24th
Email for Bio reuse: July 4th
Submitted docs via Sopra Steria: July 17th
Email for delays: July 24th
Email for app update: August 1st
IDV app invite: August 27th
Decision: waiting.... (Hopefully soon)

Regarding the app it was simple from the email it links you to the website where you login and it connects you to the app store to download it then when I downloaded it and went to sign in it gave me the option to auto-fill in my email and password it didnt ask for my application 16 digit number though.

I had previously submitted my documents via the Sopra Steria website and they all appeared on the app all I had to do was take a photo and liveness check and then uploaded my passport. It was very simple and easy i used an android smartphone.

Goodluck to everyone! Will update when I receive decision email

Were you able to submit your information from the app successfully even without receiving the email?

Yeah, we were. We did eventually receive the email at about 9.30 last night . Tried to log in at about 6.45 and it loaded so I’m assuming there’s a delay between email and activation.

Interesting to know. I may attempt it over the weekend if I don't receive the email. I submitted online on 11 June and haven't heard anything yet.

Good to know there is movement on the app side now and people are able to use it.

Reading the reviews on Play Store for the app, the liveness test has proved to be a stumbling block for some people & has ended up in the app crashing at times.

Let's hope they are actively fixing any bugs that are arising.

Quick question, on the ID verification bit of the app, regarding the photo of the
travel document, does it need to be my BRP or the photo page of my passport?

I've seen quite a few people say that they've taken a picture of their BRP. They should already have scanned pages of the passport.
