Oooh, so  x0Kiss0fDeath, I'm now into the wormhole of good proper New England ice cream shops

Sherbert! Oh, I love sherbert! And Grape Nut ice cream! or Frozen Pudding! Moose tracks! Black raspberry, Dutch Apple...
Hot Butterscotch Sauce! Pineapple sauce....   (I know some of these things aren't specific to New England)
Uh Oh, Phatbeetle is talking about food from an alternate universe again.  Other than Sherbert and Butterscotch, I've never heard of any of that stuff.

Preface: Forgive me for desecrating your talk of New England ice creameries, but...

I remember McDonald's had sundaes, and the topping options were strawberry, hot fudge, and a third... was it hot butterscotch, or was it caramel?  Are those two different things?  That butterscotch/caramel(?) flavour was the first to get dropped from the menu, but I loved it.

They must think you are a culinary genius.  Who doesn't love chocolate fudge?

'KoD, I was mostly in California and the South (Texas/Arkansas) growing up.  I know what sherbert is.  I don't know if that helps.
I remember it as butterscotch.  I think way back in the 80's liquid caramel wasn't a thing.

They do.  It's ridiculous!   ;D

I know people call it 'sherbert' in the US, but I think it's actually meant to be 'sherbet'.  I used to think it was the same as sorbet, but I learned it's not because it does have a tiny bit of dairy in it, which sorbet doesn't.  It's kind of like a cross between sorbet and ice cream.  Last time I had 'sherbert'  I was probably about 13 or 14, and a triple scoop of rainbow sherbet from Thrifty drug store in Corona CA cost the grand total of about 25 cents!

We used to have sherbet "push ups" at my junior high school.  Orange sherbet in a paper tube with a little plastic disc at the bottom.  You'd roll it in your hands to warm it a bit, then push the stick that would push up the ice cream.

I’m a mile away from a cinema with a Ben & Jerry’s counter.  Went recently with a kiddo and it was £2.75 for a sundae. Proper hot fudge.  I could only look.   :\\\'(   At least a dozen flavours but B&J so creative flavours!

I never realised that counter had proper hot fudge! I usually skip it as I don't tend to get ice cream at the cinema so didn't even realise. Are they still shut?? thought they had reopened.  Meant to be getting a 5 Guys there too apparently...

Yes Five Guys planning was approved

You can walk-in for ice cream. No need to see a film.  And yes, it’s open!

YEEESSSS! An easier 5 Guys to get pickup from! WOOO

haha Yeah I know I can just walk in for ice cream, I just never think to! I think because it's definitely a 15ish minute drive that I just can never be bothered. That or I just flat out don't think about it. The idea it's there never passes through my brain! But that was before me knowing that they had hot fudge!!

Sherbert is amazing.  I think growing up in Florida made it EXTRA amazing as it's hydrating.

I can have sherbert.  It won't have "medicinal properties" like ice cream.   ;D

Oh and my kid had a friend over Sunday.  He stayed for dinner.  Didn't eat chicken, vegetables, potatoes, chocolate ice cream, strawberry ice cream, or ice lollies.  He had plain pasta (no sauce) and a slice of cake.....

Sometimes you just have to be around other people's kids to realise you've got good kids.  Mine love food!

Why can't we have Fudgesicles here?  :\\\'(

Have any of your clever folk discovered anything in the supermarkets that's just like a Fudgesicle?
