He's 15th....fairly respectable but I not the final I would've hoped for. :-\\\\

Hmmmn, yes might be a bit one sided. Still, you never know.

It's more down to the MLB. The IOC want each sport to have it's top competitors in it, whilst the MLB want to promote the sport worldwide, in order to satisfy the IOC they'd have to allow the top players to join up with their national sides which would mean a 2 or 3 week break in the season, just as the pennant races are coming down to the wire - so the MLB wouldn't do this.

Well, there's that too. ;)

Just goes to show why it shouldn't be in the olympics, they don't care. The best comment I heard was that any sport where the pinnacle is not an Olympic gold should not be in the Olympics.

Or that all sports should have the requirement that Olympians be amateurs.

I don't think basketball's "Dream Team" is very fair at all.
As for baseball, I don't want to watch MLB players in the Olympics.  I can see them on television every summer night.  I want to see some up-and-comers giving it their best and when the Olympics are over then they can try to make it in the majors.

Yeah :)... It was great turning on the computer to check the Olympics news this morning - when I went to bed last night, we had 3 golds and when I got up, we had 7 :). According to the BBC medal table, GB is in 6th place now :).

I'm sooooo happy for him. He's a great athlete and I love his attitude!!! Go USA!!!

It is time to check and reverse the growth of government, which shows signs of having grown beyond the consent of the governed.

And the mens 100m was awesome, too!
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon
