UP: DH got approved for the 3 weeks holiday this summer. :)

another UP: Found a site called Flightfox, where other people search for deals for you. Found a really good/cheap one for us that would have us flying to NY, change airports, and then flying to Pgh for way cheaper than flights to Pgh.

IA: I had been checking the flight daily, but waiting for a cheaper one to come up (it works as a 3-day contest). By the time we went to book on Thursday, the price had shot up by several hundred pounds. :( Flights to NYC were up to over £600pp! And our connecting flight had gone up as well. DH thought we would go back to our bus idea.

UP: I knew that for an extra £100pp or so, we could just fly to Pittsburgh, so we decided we deserve it. So, it's booked. I can't believe how much we spent on 2 flights, but at least I will have uncomplicated travel. And I get to see my mommy and daddy. ;D

PL, I'm a firm believer in the fact that some things are just worth paying out for. Less stress and fuss during travel is most definitely one of them! Yay for having it all sorted!  :)

It's true. It will make such a difference, and give me more time with my family, less time travelling, and more "useable" time, since I won't have to spend as long recovering from the journey. :)

IA: boyfriend and I were unable to find a flat where we could live together and both commute to our jobs (we had very short notice of searching, which is part of the problem), so we're now getting separate places closer to each of our jobs.

UP: due to previously being long-distance and then moving in together right away, we never really got to date. So it will almost be like dating for the two months or so while we sort out what we're doing as we'll only be able to see each other on weekends.

(Trying to see the silver lining in this increasingly stressful and depressing situation!)

I hope this is a good silver lining! Sorry you couldn't find a flat, though. :( BF and I are still hunting, sadly.

Following this up with...

saw a flat tonight (rather last-minute affair), and I think it might work! :) It's a tiny bit smaller than I'd like, and doesn't have a dishwasher :( (or logical space for one, either), but otherwise, it looks pretty good. And it's less than 2/3 the price of our current flat, which is pretty awesome. Need to see about going back tomorrow with BF so he can give the thumbs up as well.

Good luck with your hunting, EN! I hope the flat you found works out. My current flat has a dishwasher and we've never used it. Where have you been looking? I've traipsed all over south London the past few days and have now narrowed my search down to two places, but I'm really leaning towards one in Fulham Broadway.

I almost started a job near Fulham Broadway this year. :) It seems like a nice area.

BF works near Bank, and (right now) I'm by Tottenham Court Road, so we've been looking just south of the river. (In theory - the probably-fell-through flat is up by Finsbury Park, so we're really pretty flexible as long as the commute looks decent.) This flat is in Southwark.

I love Fulham Broadway! It's pretty easy to get around, although annoyingly it's on a district line branch, but nice restaurants and some shops, when I lived in Hammersmith/Fulham I often popped down to the broadway.

Ha, we're looking at Southwark for our move, but we're probably going to end up in Clerkenwell/Kings X or in Waterloo.

We're not going until August though :)

My IA - I'm wearing really high heels and am both slow and unsteady, I didn't realise quite how high they were, and I feel silly.

UP - I think they're cool and my boss said they looked amazing this morning, so that was nice.

IA: My dog is 11, and it finally started to show yesterday. He was not for moving when my mom got home from work, which is VERY unlike him. Normally he's doing the wiggle dance and making noise, just like a typical lab. We decided to take him to the vet.  :(

UP: The vet checked him out and everything appeared to be okay, except for his bad knees. She thinks he must have overdid it yesterday and was in a bit of pain. He was conked out for the rest of the night, but he seems to be almost back to normal this morning.  :)

Yay!

My UP was deciding to change dentists and go to the dental clinic at work. They seem very nice and thorough.

IA: the dentist decided I have two bits of decay in back teeth  :( Why hadn't my (expensive) former dentists spotted those? Every time you start with a new dentist they always find more work that needs doing!
